Windows 10? New software update for Symantec System Recovery 2013 Desktop Edition?
I am currently using Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 with my Windows 8.1 based desktop PC. I am planning on upgrading to Windows 10 on July 29, 2015 when Windows 10 is released. I've been relying on Norton Ghost and SSR 2013 to do full system images for years. Is Symantec currently working on software for Symantec System Recovery 2013 so that it will be compatible with Windows 10? Will Symantec be offering a FREE update patch to Symantec System Recovery 2013 that will make it compatible with Windows 10? Will it be called Symantec System Recovery 2013 R3 or something else like Symantec System Recovery 2015? I would like to see SSR 2013 tested and certified as compatible with Windows 10 as soon as possible. I would prefer not to have switch to another vendor's system image backup software like Acronis. Their website is saying that you can get a free software update for Windows 10 compatibility for Acronis True Image 2015.34KViews12likes385CommentsP2V migration to VMware ESXi 5.x using System Recovery 2011
I need to do a P2V migration of a SBS 2003 to a VMware ESXi 5.x. We have Symantec System Recovery 2011 installed on the SBS. What's the best way of doing this: Hotclone Run a System Recovery backup (creates a .sv2i and .v2i images) Use System Recovery to restore the .sv2i to the ESXi host OR... Use VMware Converter to convert the .sv2i to the ESXi host Coldclone (is this even possible to an ESXi 5.x?) Boot off supplied Symantec Recovery CD Run backup direct to the ESXi host Is there a preferred method? Any other tips (i.e. hot vs cold clone)? Anything I should watch out for (i.e. DC, Exchange DB)? Many thanks.Solved1.8KViews7likes9CommentsCorrect backup policy
Hi all have some pcs that have more than one partition, and there is one or more among these partitions that i don't whant to backup, and some others that are small partition, without letter, reserved for the system (created at the installation of windows) For example, the simplest situation is: 3 partitions: -no letter - system reserver -c: the boot drive -d: some large archiving partition I don't whant to backup Now, in these situation, how to configure a correct backup policy? Actually, for those pcs, i configured a backup policy for the partition c:, but in case of crash, I think i would be in trouble, as I don't have a backup for the no-letter partition, that, beeing system reserver, should contain some system files i suppose. In pcs where there is no d partition, i configured to backup all partitions, and so also the no-letter partition is backed up. How to solve this problem? I configure backup policies from SSR manager, and the no-letter partition are not well-listed (there are many, and you don't understand wich is the one of the pc you whant to backup....)Solved488Views5likes5CommentsBackups Failing - Cannot create recovery points for job
Hi, 1st post. We have recently installed Backup Exec System Recovery 2010 Management Console. We have deployed the Altiris Agent and the Backup Exec 2010 Plug in. We have a mixture of Server 2000/2003/2008R2 servers running BESR 8/8.5 and 2010. Permissions are correct and I can copy backup files between the server and NAS and the other way too. I have also amended the \\server\share to \\ipaddress\share to no avail. I have tried the articles listed via Google but am still at a loss as to what to do. If you are able to help that would be excellent as I have been struggling with Symantec Support for about 6 weeks for various issues with regards this installation. Using System Recovery 2013. We backup to an external hard disk then create an offsite copy to a NAS device. Ideleted some backup sets through the'managebackup destinations' option to free up disk space. Now the backup history shows the backup sets on the external hard drive as missing and the offsite copies as unavailable. The external hard disk backups were removed using the 'manage backup destinations' option. I had to manually delete the backups from the offsite destination as therecovery points arenot even available through that windows as per the screenshot. What is going on here? Is this a bug or something I'm doing wrong?1KViews1like6CommentsDoes SSR automatically delete off old recovery point after a new recovery point set is created
Hi, I am using Symantec System Recovery 2013 and i have set the backup to create a new recovery point set on the 1st day of the month with limits on the incremental recovery point set at 30. So rightfully at end of the month, i will have 1 full base backup and 30 incremental set Can i check if SSR 2013 will automatically delete off the 30 old incremental point set + old full base backup after the full backup is done on the 1st day of the month assuming i have enough disk space. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks Regards, Jeffrey1.3KViews1like5Commentsbackup & restore performance
