OS drive backup fails convertion to microsoft VHD
I have four different drives backed up on a 2008 r2 server and the OS drive is the only drive that will not convert to a VHD. It fails every time. I have created conversion jobs for the other drive individually and they all run fine all using the same settings and locations as the OS conversion job but it fails. With this error?? Error EC8F1F48: The 'Microsoft VHD' conversion process could not be completed. Error EC8F1F46: An error occurred trying to retarget the virtual disk F:\DLC\Backup-hyperV\Backup-HyperV_C_Drive.vhd. Error E0BB0004: Function Retarget Virtual Disk argument Mount Point is invalid. (UMI:V-281-3215-8008) Details: Source: Symantec System Recovery 2011 The other drives that do convert are using the same back file form the same location and saving the conversion to the same location which is actually a local drive on this server.Solved1.9KViews0likes10CommentsSymantec LiveState 2013 R2 & ESXI Free -> VM-Based and/or Cold Image Possible?
Hello, We have inherited a Server running ESXI Free and a single VM with Server 2012R2 -Recognizing the limitations inherent in the Free Edition in terms of protecting the ESXI, is at least possible to install 2013R2 w/in the Virtual Machine and successfully back it up to external storage for DR Consideration? -Model would be if total server failure at least 2012 Server can be saved and restored to different machine via V2P -Apparently VM does have standard Backup Exec on it currently that running - did not know if this would extend to 2013 R2 -Additionally to get an entire image of the machine can the entire Drive be imaged via Cold Boot with new version of SRD Thank you very much490Views0likes1Commentsv2i convert to vmware
Hi, i want to convert a backup file from Symantec System Recovery 2013 (sv2i) file. the machine is a Windows 7 64 bit, with 2 partions; 1. (100 MB) System Partion; 2. (250 GB) C-Drive. In System Recovery 2013 is a option to convert sv2i to vmware vmdk, so should i use this Option from System Recovery 2013 or should i convert the sv2i with vmware converter? I have a pair of SSR 2013 backup files for a single Windows 2003 server - one v2i file containing the C drive image, another v2i file containing the D drive image. When I use the SSR 2013 P2V one time conversion wizard, it appears it's not possible to select both C and D backup files to create a single VMDK to push to the ESXi server?649Views1like3CommentsSSR 2013 virual conversion to Esxi 5x issue
All, I just converted a backup image from an SBS 2003 (made with SSR 2011) with SSR 2013 to an esxi 5 server. The conversion went successful but the converted server does not show up in in the esx inventory... The VM does show in the datastore. I tried to add the server to the inventory but the key (right-click) is grayed out. Any advise is welcome. Greetings, Mike1.1KViews0likes8CommentsV2P Restore
I need to move a Virtual Server (SBS 2011) to the Physical Server it is running on, (orginal needs of mutiple servers is no longer there). I am running Hyper-V which therefore means I have *.vhd files to restore from. I was under the impression, that I could use the VHD files to restore from. I booted from the download Recovery CD, pointed to VHD drive and then things went downhill. For starters; when it displayed the information on the VHD, some of the information it displayed was (sorry did not write all of them down); Name - Unknown Size - 0 - I know the files are good, I have been able to mount them in both Win7 & 8 and view all the files. Next When selecting the destination drive, they are always grayed out. I am trying to restore to drives on a HP Proliant DL380 G7 off a P410i RAID Controller. I loaded the x32 drivers for this RAID controller and still they show as Grey, although I can see any partitions, created on the disks. I tried wiping the disk so there was nothing on them, started the windows install to create a volume, both the same size and larger than the partition I was trying to restore, but always the destination was greyed out. If I did click Next I would get EC95006 - Destination Not Vaild and EC950019 - Current Recovery Data is Invalid. Questions Can I restore a VHD to Physical? Why would the VHD's show a size of 0, etc, as though they can not be read. Why are the destination drives not useable, although the correct drivers are installed/loaded? and the drives are viewable in the console. If it is not possiable to take a VHD drive and restore to Physical, then do I have to install the System Recovery software within the VM and backup from there to bebable to restore to the Physical. However this still leaves the issue with not being able to select the drives. Any help would be appreciated - there has to be an easy way to do a V2PSolved1.3KViews0likes6CommentsP2V migration to VMware ESXi 5.x using System Recovery 2011
I need to do a P2V migration of a SBS 2003 to a VMware ESXi 5.x. We have Symantec System Recovery 2011 installed on the SBS. What's the best way of doing this: Hotclone Run a System Recovery backup (creates a .sv2i and .v2i images) Use System Recovery to restore the .sv2i to the ESXi host OR... Use VMware Converter to convert the .sv2i to the ESXi host Coldclone (is this even possible to an ESXi 5.x?) Boot off supplied Symantec Recovery CD Run backup direct to the ESXi host Is there a preferred method? Any other tips (i.e. hot vs cold clone)? Anything I should watch out for (i.e. DC, Exchange DB)?
