EV Version mix up - which is correct
Hello All, I'm starting on a project to upgrade an EV8 installation to EV11. Before I start in earnest on the live setup I have been given a test domain to play with, this was the original system that someone else installed many many moons past. The first thing I did was check the version currently installed, and this is where my first point of confusion started. Can anyone help me work out which version is installed please. In the EV console Help - About EV it tells me I have version 9.0.5.1067 In Control Panel - Add/Remove software - it tells me I have version 9.0.5.1067 The executables in the Program Files folder again show : EVPM.exe = 9.0.5.1067 DTrace.exe = 9.0.5.1067 So it looks very much like I am looking at 9.0.5.1067 However the Registry key : [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KVS\Enterprise Vault\Install] "Version" shows 8.0.5.1048 for Version and Full Version. Which is correct? Has anyone seen a version mismatch like this before? I was intending to upgrade this to version 9 but most of the information I can see tells me that I am probably already on version 9.0.5 other than the registry which tells me it is version 8 which is what I was expecting. Which is correct and any ideas on how this happened? thanks muchly,Solved1.1KViews3likes4CommentsIs there a way for admins to delete vault messages without allowing users to do so ?
Hi All, We've recently installed Enterprise Vault (v.11.0.0.1444) into our environment (2x Exchange 2010 CAS/HT/MB in DAG). We have enabled most users now and have come up with our first virus alert on the EV front end server. We are using Trend Officescan 10.6 SP3 and it flagged an infection: Virus: TROJ_DALEXIS.SMH Location: \Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy58\Enterprise Vault Stores\MBXVaultStore01 Ptn1\2015\01-28\0\000\ 0000E5463CFA3D1F929DB469C2473761~25~44062B41~00~1.DVSSP We have used a SQL query to find out the specific user and folder which we have tracked down to an email in the Junk E-Mail folder, however the next step is to remove the email from the Vault console which is where the problem arrives. At the moment, we have not got the setting "Users can delete items from their archives" turned on as we do not want users to be able to accidentally remove items. From reading TECH128602 it says we must turn this on, but it is a global setting on the EV site, so we could not get away with enabling it, without allowing users to also delete items. Surely there is a way that admins can browse a user's vault and remove an email without giving everybody the privilege, does anyone know if this is possible ? Otherwise I can only assume we would have to turn it on out of hours, remove the message and then turn it off again. Hi all, I am pretty new to Enterprise Vault and I am learning about it. Currently I have a very big problem in our environment. Indexing is not working. We have two servers for indexing. Both are in a Index Server Group. In that, one server has been completely taken out from the environment. The other one is still running. I am not able to delete the server which is taken out from the environment from the administration console. When I delete it, I get the error message The computer contains Services. You need to delete all these Services before you can delete the Computer. When I tried to delete the Services - I get the error message : "Could not determine if the Enterprise Vault Server running on (server name) is part of a cluster. No such host is known. When I tried to delete the task associated with that server I get the error message : "The task cannot be deleted because there are indexing operations associated with this task. I checked completely and I don't see any indexing task associated with that server. Event IDs that I get stating indexing is not working are : 41021, 41008, 41011, 41291, 41259 I searched online, but it doesn't give me a correct path to troubleshoot. My Questions : 1. Should all the servers in the Indexing Server Group should be in working condition ?? 2. If not, the another server is still running, but all the indexing jobs are struck and not moving. Environment Information. EV Archiving Server Windows 2008 R2 Standard Service Pack 1 Enterprise Vault Version : 11.0.1.3527 EV Indexing Server Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard. Hello Tech Gurus, Is EVPM just to apply policies on one single user? is there anyway I can apply a policy to OU or security group with EVPM. For instance, below mentioned script : [Directory] DirectoryComputername = EVserver SiteName = EVsite [Mailbox] DistinguishedName = /o=XXXX/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Recipients/cn=GautamEV Test058 [Folder] Name = Mailboxroot Enabled = True OverrideArchiveLocks = True [Folder] Name = SentItems Filtername = DoNotArchive OverrideArchiveLocks = True Note it is not taking DistinguishedName = All, it give an error Paramter incorrect. Hi All, We are currently in the middle of an Outlook 2007 to Outlook 2013 POC & to date we have had some challenges in regards to the functionality of the Virtual Vault after the installation of Outlook 2013. Outlook 2013 installs without error. We then launch Outlook all looks well with the Virtual Vault in the navigation pane, however when you click on the Virtual Vault to expand the folder set you get the error message "Cannot expand the folder. The set of folders cannot be opened. An unexpected error has occured. MAPI was unable to load the information service EVMSP.DLL. Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured". To set the scene we have the current configuration on our POC test case machine - Outlook 2007 SP3 installed side by side with Outlook 2013 15.0.4649.1001 : - Enterprise Vault Outlook Addin 10.0.4.1293 - Outlook 2007 SP3 user with Virtual Vault working as expected - Outlook 2013 15.0.4649.1001 with Virtual Vault, however cannot expand folder set because of the MAPI error above. In order to re-enable the Vault we have had to do one of two tasks below: 1. As part of the Outlook 2013 installation script we perform a repair of the Enterprise Vault add-in, which results in most cases of a working Virtual Vault upon completion of the installation of Outlook. 2. By running the following command rundll32 EVMSP32.dll,MergeEVMSPWithMAPISVC To my understanding the reason for this MAPI error is a result of the new installation of Outlook 2013 creating a new MAPISVC.INF where the Enterprise Vault services have not been registered. This then results in the Virtual Vault not functioning as expected. In performing one of the two tasks below this registers the service with MAPI, which results in a working Virtual Vault. What i would like to understand is if anyone in the forum has come across an issue like this & what approach you have taken to resolve it. Any insight, suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, ScottSolved4.9KViews1like5Commentsenterprise vault storage migration
I am about to move my vault store partitions to new storage attached to the existing vault server. I am following the steps listed here: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH35742 1. set vault into backup mode, stop services. 2. copy data 3. edit SQL database to contain new locations 4. start services and clear backup mode I currently have 6 vault store partitions, 5 closed, 1 open. My question is: Do I need to have backup mode set and services stopped to copy the 5 closed partition data? I'm concerned at the amount of downtime required to copy the complete set.443Views1like1Comment
