Discovery Accelerator SSRS reports problem - Event ID 405
Hi Running EV 9.0.2 + DA/CA 9.0.2 We have an ongoing issue with DA reporting ever since we moved to new hardware (from 2003 to 2008R2). DA reporting used to work perfectly in the old environment. Now when I try to run a report in DA, I get this event logged on the DA server: Event ID 405 APP AS - Customer ID: 2 - An error occurred retrieving the report snapshots. System.FormatException: String was not recognized as a valid DateTime. at System.DateTimeParse.Parse(String s, DateTimeFormatInfo dtfi, DateTimeStyles styles) at KVS.Accelerator.Application.SSRS_Reports.GetReportSnapshots() I can connect to the reporting server fine in the DA client, but when I create a new report, nothing seems to happen in the client, but if I browse the reporting server (e.g. http://myserver/DA_Reporting) I can see my report there OK. CA reporting works fine via the client EXCEPT if the client is started as the service account. For DA, it doesn't work if we start it with the service account, or another account that has rights in DA. I have a case logged with Symantec but we're not making much progress. Usually if this happens in the organization I get an exclamation mark in the column Synchronize and the new account is visible as well. If I open the old custodian entry all information is grey and cannot be changed. But I see a button at the bottom of the page called Reactivate. So I'm interested if this button will help me. But I couldn't find any information in all kind of manuals as well as in the knowledgebase.Any diea if this will help to solve the issue? What will happen if I press the "Reactivate" button? Or does somebody know how I can import the information from the new AD account that didn't get imported? This issue is only in the PROD environment. TCP Chimney, TCPIP Offload Engine (TOE) or TCP Segmentation Offload (TSO) will cause a transport-level error to be logged resulting in inaccurate hit counts for Accelerator searches Title of Tech Doc http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH55653 Doc states that if you do not turn off these settings you get inaccurate hit counts. Do you need to turn them off on both the EV, DA and SQL servers? Optimization docs want you to turn off the setting on all servers. Does that apply here? What is an inaccurate hit count. Does it mean you are missing documents or are documents double counted? We are running EV & DA 9.01 on server 2003, SQL 2008 on server 2008 R2, I have seen the errors listing in the doc in our event log. I am using DA 9 on a Windows 2008R2 server, through a back-end Vault 9 server on Windows 2003 (back-end db is SQL2008R2). DA9 is letting me create cases, make and complete searches, and configure and run export jobs. However, the export jobs are getting stuck in a "processing..." status. Things seemed to be going ok, but then suddenly the export jobs stopped dumping data. The DA client reports no errors, and there are no errors in the event logs on the servers that I can see, and no problems with the SQL side. I noticed the DA server was busy (CPU and RAM-wise) when the exports first started running, now after more than 24 hours I've noticed DA exports aren't dumping anything and CPU and RAM activity is non-existent. Seems like the DA server is sitting there pretending todo something, but is silently failing somewhere. I've tried checking all appropriate settings, DA best practices, even dropped the number of export threads to 15 (following bp documentation that suggests 25 might be too high for all environments). Hi Gurus out there, We upgraded EVDA from 9.0.2 to 10 lately. Now I can't retrieve accepted messages for review. When I tried to do so (16 messages only), I got "No items match the current filter. Please modify the filter or try again later". I am still able to review the messages accepted prior to the upgrade. Any one encountered this before? Hello all, strange issue. I've succesfully installed DA in a site. I am now trying to create a customer. The EV server and the SQL server are seperate. I enter as SQLserver SERVERNAME\INSTANCE Add appropriate logfile and databasefile directory. I get an error that the instance cannot be found. Error in EV-eventlog is: APP ATM - Error installing a Customer. Install Thread - worker thread (1) Customer ID: 3 Number of tries: 1 Cause: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) Is the format I use correct? Additionally, the instance listens to a different port. Hi Running EV/CA/DA 9.0.2 Havea single EV SQL server, and a single CA/DA SQL server. SQL servers are 2008 R2 VMs, 4 CPU with 32GB of RAM. Planning on upping CPUs to 8GB. We've had some performance issues recently in the environmnent around CA and DA, mainly due to a recent 10-fold increase in DA usage, with massive searches, acceptances, legal holds, etc. We went from 7 million messages searched for in Feb to 100 million messages searched for in Mar, and some of these massive searches were accepted, put on legal hold etc. DA database size went from 200GB in early Mar, to 500GB in late Mar, now around 385GB. CA database is fairly constant around 68GB. Question 1 - what reduces DA database size? Deleting cases? Taking legal holds off? Other than not increasing DA usage 10-fold and being mindful of massive legal holds, etc., I am wondering what to do to improve performance, outside of the standard tech docs such as http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH63230 With a DA database of 500GB, maintenance is very time consuming with the time needed for SQL dumps, index reorgs, etc. DA10 SQL best practise guide states: You may need to roll over customer databases to remain within the available storage capacity. The database storage requirements are high. To reduce storage costs, you may want to roll over the database periodically to a new customer database (that is, create all new cases in a new database), and then archive the old database when it is no longer active. Alternatively, you can move the old customer database to slower storage and disable the associated Discovery Accelerator customer tasks. This would allow the customer database to be brought online quickly. Question 2 - at what point should database be rolled over? My understanding is that there isn't a real way to "close" or "archive" a DA customer database. The best approach is to stop any activity in it (e.g. scheduled searches) and advise users to use a new database. What does disabling the DA customer task do? Does that make the database inaccessible to end users? The "Co-locating multiple customer databases" section says it may pay to split DBs between different SQL servers, but doesn't give much guidelines around at what point this should be done. Question 3 - "Additional customer databases may create an impact at the Discovery Accelerator server and the underlying Enterprise Vault infrastructure, which needs to be considered before implementation" - what sort of impact? Is this if multiple customer databases are created on a single SQL server instead of multiple servers? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.Solved2.4KViews1like14Comments
