EV discovery accelerator
Hi All, kindly i need your help, i installed EV discovery accelerator 11, but am not able to connect to http://localhost/evbaadmin/, it give me the below error "You are viewing this site without administrator privileges. Unfortunately I did not follow these instructions from the beginning. So I started to install a dedicated EV 11 server from the install media by using the install wizard. This server came on top to our 3 server environment with EV 10 (plus additional SQL server), where each server got a dedicated task. One for FSA, one for indexing, one for archiving. In general I wouldn't mix up the EV versions, but as the DA server holds non of the above mentioned services and we are going to upgrade to EV 11 in the near future I decided to install the EV11 basics with DA 11 Then I followed the instructions here above and I could go through it smoothly. I could successfully create a customer database, but interestingly the database is not able to update. Error message in evbaadmin: ExecuteNonQuery requires an open and available Connection. The connection's current state is closed. Event ID 59: APP ATM - Failed to update database. We exported the email from jorunal archive from DA as pst then convert to eml which will be scanned by Symantec DLP Network monitor, howerver the incident created no email address only sender name or recipent name. The quesiton is when EV archived the email, which format it archived? Does it include the address or only name? From DA, there is an option to enable show the email address. Hi Running EV/CA/DA 9.0.2 Have a single EV SQL server, and a single CA/DA SQL server. SQL servers are 2008 R2 VMs, 4 CPU with 32GB of RAM. Planning on upping CPUs to 8GB. We've had some performance issues recently in the environmnent around CA and DA, mainly due to a recent 10-fold increase in DA usage, with massive searches, acceptances, legal holds, etc. We went from 7 million messages searched for in Feb to 100 million messages searched for in Mar, and some of these massive searches were accepted, put on legal hold etc. DA database size went from 200GB in early Mar, to 500GB in late Mar, now around 385GB. CA database is fairly constant around 68GB. Question 1 - what reduces DA database size? Deleting cases? Taking legal holds off? Other than not increasing DA usage 10-fold and being mindful of massive legal holds, etc., I am wondering what to do to improve performance, outside of the standard tech docs such as http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH63230 With a DA database of 500GB, maintenance is very time consuming with the time needed for SQL dumps, index reorgs, etc. DA10 SQL best practise guide states: You may need to roll over customer databases to remain within the available storage capacity. The database storage requirements are high. To reduce storage costs, you may want to roll over the database periodically to a new customer database (that is, create all new cases in a new database), and then archive the old database when it is no longer active. Alternatively, you can move the old customer database to slower storage and disable the associated Discovery Accelerator customer tasks. This would allow the customer database to be brought online quickly. Question 2 - at what point should database be rolled over? My understanding is that there isn't a real way to "close" or "archive" a DA customer database. The best approach is to stop any activity in it (e.g. scheduled searches) and advise users to use a new database. What does disabling the DA customer task do? Does that make the database inaccessible to end users? The "Co-locating multiple customer databases" section says it may pay to split DBs between different SQL servers, but doesn't give much guidelines around at what point this should be done. Question 3 - "Additional customer databases may create an impact at the Discovery Accelerator server and the underlying Enterprise Vault infrastructure, which needs to be considered before implementation" - what sort of impact? Is this if multiple customer databases are created on a single SQL server instead of multiple servers? Any advice appreciated. After installing Enterprsie Vault 8SP4 with Discovery Accelerator on the same server and SQL on a dedicated, I created a new Customer at the Discovery Accelerator Manager Web site http://localhost/evbaadmin/. After creating the new customer, restart iExplorer and reopening the Discovery Accelerator Manager Web site I get the Exception 'System.Web.HttpUnhandledException' on the site (more exception information see Attachement). The "Server" field is empty and it is not possilble to put a server name in. The Discovery Accelerator Client on a XP client is not able to connect the DA Server because "The server is not configured, please try again later". I'm new with EV and DA. I have an issue with an EV 9 environment. The client migrated databases to another SQL server over the weekend, and while the EV servers have been reconfigured without an issue, I have a problem with the Discovery Accelerator server. Firstly I could not connect to the EVBAAdmin webpage so I followed the link below and did a repair and specified the new server containing the configuration database and was able to access the webpage. http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH70281 After doing that, when I open up the DA client, the server is set to localhost, so I changed that to the SQL server and I got the following error: A problem occured while retrieving the list of instances from server 'SQLServer'. The Accelerator service is either not runing or the server could not be contacted. There are no servers available at the moment, please try again later. I have tried to create a new customer which was successful in the EVBAAdmin website, I can ping the SQL server and the EV servers are able to connect to it fine. The accelerator service is running and has been restarted a few times. The last error to be logged was for the licence as below, however I uploaded that and since then there have been no further errors logged. First had the issue with installing, but go around that following the command line install method here. https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/accelerator-install-requires-uac-be-turned Once that is done, the client installs without issue. However, once the client is started - it sees the instance it needs to talk to, but upon attempting to connect it fails and closes out the client. This error is seen in the application log. Community, I apologize if this is something simple, but I am having difficulty conducing a search in DA. I have a Case created, and when I specify a search, the search status errors with "Cannot search archive as directory recovery is unavailable". I also have an event in the EV event logs: APP AT - Customer ID:8 - Error processing Vault to Search off the queue: Searching Vault Thread - worker thread for index server:1 (8) Vault ID: 1835 Number of tries: 5 Cause:Cannot search archive as directory recovery is unavailable Any help would be greatly appreciated.
