Problem activating built-in online backup on Norton 360
Hello , Im john and i have and use Norton 360 products for many years now. About 5 days ago, when my Norton 360 product subscription ended , i added a trial version for 1 month Norton 360 online ,same product as i had before (the latest version), because i didnt have enough time to buy a new Norton 360 CD to get the key in order to update my subscription and activate it again for 365 days. My problem is that 2 days ago i finally bought a Norton 360 cd retail ,and updated my subscription ,but the built in online backup does not work , and it says it cannot connect to the server in order to update my suscription . Every thing else updates perfectly ,antivirus ect.,and it says my product is activated for another 361 days. Meanwhile i went on the backup site and tried to re initialize the subscription for online backup with the new Cd key , (as the error prompts) , in which did not work with a message that the key is invalid , i also tried the 1 month trial key and saw the same message. I know i renewed my subscription about 5 days late , but is that reason enough after 4 consecutive years of using this product for it not to allow me to turn online backup back on? or maybe its because i first renewed with the online free trial verson and before the month ended (3 days later) i just added another retail key for my main account to work and it somehow got confused? I updated the trial version from the desktop with the new Norton 360 cd key bought. i used the online free trial version only because i wanted to be sure that my files were protected until i could actually buy the cd and input the key to renew my account as i did. What can i do to fix this now ? Thank you up front for your time Sincerely, john2.2KViews0likes0CommentsNeed help in lotus notes to outlook migration process

Hello, I have been using PGP Whole Disk Encryption for a couple months now on our servers, and it works very well. We encrypted three portable hard drives to use as off-site backup storage, and have only had one issue so far. The server is running Server 2008 Datacenter x64, on a VMWare ESXi host server. All of our servers are virtualized, including the file server that the portable drive is "connected" to. So we have to remote into them to manage them in any way. This is OK, the software runs fine and the HDD is ok. Everything's good. Except for if you connect the hard drive, before remoting into the server. What happens is, you press Ctrl+Alt+Del to log in, put in your credentials, and then the OS sits at "Welcome" with the spinning ring. I've waited hours and it never goes away. It seems to lock up the file system entirely because soon after I get complaints of people not being able to access the file server. We end up having to reboot the VM and then it works OK again. I can log into Windows, and then I have to reattach the drive, which then re-prompts for the password. Again, if I'm not logged into the VM before re-attaching the drive I run into the same issue again. What I think is happening: When you plug the drive in, PGP puts up a prompt for the password to unlock the drive. If you aren't remoted in, or if you weren't logged in (if it were a physical install. I haven't tried this yet since we're all virtual) then you can't put in the password. trying to log in gets "stuck" because PGP probably locks either the file system or CPU calls or something to prevent you from viewing the drive. I'm not sure at all if any of my assessment is correct. If I log into the server FIRST, and then hook up the drive, the password prompt comes up and everything is fine and dandy. This issue hasn't been such a problem since I found out how to get around it, but if I forget to log in first or I'm having someone cover for me who doesn't know to log in first, our file server comes to a grinding halt. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue, and how they fixed it or what the deal is. I'm hoping PGP will put out a patch but since I don't have a support contract I'm left to bugging the community and hoping PGP happens to see my plight.620Views0likes0Comments"Invalid Symantic Recovery Disk Location specified"
I recently had the need to recover my disk from a backup. I tried using the recovery disk, and that failed so I ended up trying to do files. In the process, I ended up getting my Save & Restore 2.0.0 updated to 2.0.6. Now I want to make a recovery disk of the 2.0.6 version so that I can possibly have something that works better than the 2.0.0 version. The "create recovery disk" option asks for a location for the backup, but no matter what I specify (local hard disk, CD-rw drive, USB removeable disk) I always get "Invalid Symantic Recovery Disk Location specified". Is this newer version broken? 01-24-2011 06:07:21 : [INFO]: Getting application config file. 01-24-2011 06:07:21 : [INFO]: Intializing Create Custom Symantec Recovery Disk 01-24-2011 06:07:21 : [INFO]: Checking for Administrator privileges. 01-24-2011 06:07:21 : [INFO]: Checking for supported OS. 01-24-2011 06:07:21 : [INFO]: Checking for GearWorks files. 01-24-2011 06:07:21 : [INFO]: Initializing GearWorks toolkit. 01-24-2011 06:07:21 : [INFO]: Setting application parameters. 01-24-2011 06:07:46 : [INFO]: Validating user specified paths. 01-24-2011 06:07:46 : [ERROR]: Invalid Symantec Recovery Disk location specified. I know how to manually build and deploy an image using Ghost to a lab of computers but I want to remove the manual part. I want to dedicate 1 computer as a "Master". Subordinate computers can poll the Master at set intervals and determine how to "synchronize" themselves to it, minus the obvious name, Ip, etc issues. Best case would not involve a full image pull, but only the items out of sync. Update the Master and the subordinates will follow next time they poll it. Can a Symantec product do this? If not is there a reasonably priced product that can? Thanks for the info!799Views0likes0Comments
