Restore entire Folder with sub-folders and files.
Hey guys, I setup my Symantec Exec to create file backups from a drive that I use to store images. Unfortunately the hard drive doesnt work, and now I want to restore the files into another drive. The problem is that Backup Exec only allows me to recover the actual files and not the entire root folder with all the sub-folders and files in it. When I created the task in Backup Exec I selected the root folder and checked the option to also backup subfolders and files, but when i try to re-store it doesn't allow me just to select the root folder and restore the entire set of subfolders and files inside the root folder. Is there away of recovering the root folder with all the sub-folders and files in it? I am using Backup Exec 8.
Command Line to start BESR Job?
Hi All, I am wondering if there is a way for a BESR job to be started via comand line on a server? I notice that here is a pqj file at the following location, C:\Users\All Users\Symantec\Backup Exec System Recovery\Schedule, for windows 2008 servers. This seems to be the job definition. Is there anyway that a command can be used to start this job? FYI, I have BESR clients on 6.x, 7.x and 8.x in my environment Please advise.
Restore computer from recovery point
When backing up a complete drive, when I create a base with several incremental recovery points, if I need to restore, I just want to confirm that I do NOT have to restore the base first then a sequential restore using the incrementals in chronological order. I just select the recovery point I want to restore from - even thou that recovery point may be a fraction of the size of the base - and that recovery point will restore my drive back to full at the time of that recovery point? Is this correct? So the incremental points must be linked to the base. Thanks Gi
Symantec Restore CD errors out every time on Dell Optiplex GX520
I have gotten it to fully load once but it started to fail halfway through. I downloaded the .ISO file from the FTP Symantec Site. I formatted the first (1st) machine of 30 (after backing it up to a network share) because I need to verify the restore software actually works. Of course, after it loads and you accept the license agreement, it asks if you want to load the Network drivers in which I respond YES (NO still gets the same results). Partially through waiting for teh drivers load (20 seconds or so) it fails saying there was an invalid exception for something. Even if it does magically load, the second you go to launch something from the MAIN GUI, it gives the same error. Invalid Exception error. I've tried different CD's, different CD-ROM Drives including a DVD-R (3 tried all together). I completely reset the BIOS by removing the BIOS battery with the computer unplugged and even still you always get the same result. I was hesitant to recommend a Symantec product to this customer already and they still wanted to spend the money on 30 licenses including a server license. Now I have to tell them their software doesnt work because as usual, SYMANTEC has geared their product towards the majority of mass consumers and didn't think about actually testing the software before expecting people to pay for it. I do a lot of business with a lot of customers and this is the LAST time I EVER recommended ANY PRODUCT MADE BY SYMANTEC. They NEVER get it right...even after 10+ of Symantec Corporate Antivirus, close to all my customers get infected on a weekly basis with live updates every hour. I am hoping that someone can actually provide me with some help as the users manual is useless, but I have little faith in customer support of this company as i've always been more understanding of the software than the "support" teams. If Symantec/Norton looses money at all in 10 years, they deserve every penny lost because their products are shotty, AT BEST.
Backup Exec System Recovery 8.5 Server Edition / Sichern auf Tape Drive
Hallo! Wir haben uns für einen kleinen SQL Server für die tägliche Datensicherung Backup Exec System Recovery 8.5 Server Edition gekauft. Irgendwie finden wir aber keine Möglichkeit die Sicherung auf einem Tape Drive zu speichern. Auf eine externe HDD ist kein Problem, jedoch ist dies nicht die von uns bevorzugte Lösung... Wären über eine kurze Antwort sehr dankbar ob ein Backup auf unsere Bänder mit diesem Programm überhaupt möglich ist.
Backup Exec System Recovery 2010 remote install issue
Hi all, I've just installed Backup Exec System Recovery 2010 Management solution with no problems. I then sent out the plug-in for Backup Exec System Recovery with no problems. However when I click 'Install Backup Exec System Recovery 2010' from the homepage, set the policy to 'On' Then select the relevant machine in the 'applied to' section and then check 'Run once ASAP' and 'User can run' and thats it... nothing happens, nothing is installed - I can't even find anywhere where an error might be logged or a staus of the installation. Does anyone no whats wrong here? There are no AV software or firewalls present on the client. Regards Rob
Backup Exec recovery 2010
I have an issue with restoring an email message the GRO. Has anyone made this work? I have installed the server edition on a 2008 server with Exchange 2007 I did the restore point. Then run the GRO restore and I can see all the email accounts and messages for each account. When I try to restore which is suppose to save as a message file it fails. When I try to open message in outlook nothing ever happens. When I try to forward I get the email window saying, requested email is attached but there is no attachment. Does anybody have any idea's.BESR 2010 Linux Edition Recovery
Hi, I am having Suse 10 Enter. Server with BESR 2010 Linux Edition installed, and have created System Recovery Disk of for recovery of it. Once my machine has crashed and i have restored it with BESR 2010 Linux Edition properly with System Recovery Disk, and installed grub also on /boot partition. Bust still System does not boot, and it goes directly in grub screen. I have installed grub properly but still, it doesnot get kernel image. Can any 1 have solution over it please send me ??
