"Browse Failure" when choosing VMware tools iso
Hello all, any help would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to do a "convert to virtual machine from point in time" in Backup Exec 2012. I almost get through the whole setup sucessfully, I point to my ESX/Vcenter and choose a datastore. Now on the final step, i click the browse button beside the "Full path of VMware tools ISO image:" and i get the following error: "Browse Failure Failure to browse "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" The directory or file was not found, or could not be accessed." Now the first thing i'm noticing is it is trying to browse our old domain/FQDN. Is there any way of choose a new browse location?Solved2KViews4likes4CommentsHyper-V Failover Cluser backup issue
Hello to all, I have recently setup an Hyper-V failover cluster with 2 brand new servers configured as clustered nodes along with a CSV storage. THe cluster is working great, the failover works fine, and I can Live Migrate Virtual Machines as much as I want. However I am running into a Backup issue. My Backup software is Backup Exec 2010 R3. I have installed the backup agent on my 2 failover nodes. In the backup job selection I can see my cluster refered as Hyper-V-Cluster1 , and underneath I see C:\ClusterStorage\Volume1 , and also Microsoft Hyper-V-HA Virtual Machines , with my Virtual Machines listed. So far so good. The problem is that , when selecting VMs under Hyper-V HA , the backup will fail for all the VMs stored on the node which is not the storage Owner Node. For the owner node the VMs are backedup properly as long as I choose the following Advanced Open File option: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service => Automatic, Allow Vss to select the snapshot provider. But for the VMs on the NON storage Owner node the job will failed with the following error: - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "VRTSRV::\\HyperV-Cluster1.xxx.local\Hyper-V?HA?VM\VM1". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS). V-79-10000-11230 - VSS Snapshot error. Unable to get minimum quiet time for physical volumes. Reduce the activity on these volumes, or wait and run the backup when there is less activity on the volumes. The following volumes are dependent on resource: "C:" "C:\CLUSTERSTORAGE\VOLUME1" . I cannot back up VMs stored on the non owner Hyper-V host ( node). I tranfered this VM on the Owner node, and then the backup works just fine. So I would like to know how to backup all my VMs stored on the other node. Besides , in the job selection, if I choose my VM from the C:\Clusterstorage\Volume 1 instead of selecting it from Hyper-V HA , it works fine too. So I am also wondering what is the difference between choosing Hyper-V HA , and C:\Clusterstorage I am adding a picture below, so it makes more sense. Thank you for your answers !4.5KViews6likes11CommentsInstall Backup Exec 2014 on virtual machine??
Hello, I am currently running Backup Exec 2014 on a Server 2003 machine that also servers as our secondary domain controller. We backup to disk first then copy to tape. We are migrating to new servers running 2012r2. Can BE 2014 be installed on a virtual server? I thought this would be a good way to separate the secondary DC role from Backup Exec. ThanksSolved3.1KViews0likes5CommentsSymantec System Recovery 2013 - restore to new VM
We're running Symantec System Recovery 2013 on Windows Server 2012. It's scheduled to create recovery point sets with a "full" backup once a week, then "incremental" ones in between. That's all working fine, and we can restore individual files from the backups with no problems. However, we'd also like this to work as a form of disaster recovery, in that if the building were to burn down, we'd like to be able to restore an offsite copy of the latest recovery point to a new virtual machine at a datacentre. I've been testing this process by creating a new VM, and booting with the Symantec Recovery DVD to perform the restore. Although the restore process runs to completion, there seems to be a problem with drivers, and the newly-created VM doesn't boot properly to Windows. The "Restore Anywhere" feature of Symantec System Recovery 2013 is definitely enabled. The newly-created VM gets most of the way through the initial boot process but, before the logon screen is reached, an alert box appears "Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware". I'm using the latest version of Oracle Virtualbox for the VM host, with default virtual hardware, which normally Windows Server 2012 supports with no problems. I've also tried using a virtual IDE drive or virtual SCSI drive for my VM, instead of the default SATA virtual hardware. The original physical server has an Fujitsu SAS 6Gb/s RAID 5/6 512MB (D2616) Adapter and a RAID-5 array. I've also tried using the feature built in to Symantec System Recovery which allows the conversion of the latest recovery point to a VHD file. I've tried the file it creates both with Virtualbox and with "proper" Hyper-V running under Windows Server 2012 R2, and in both cases I get the same error message when the VM boots. I'm not clear why this isn't working - any ideas, please? I'm assuming it's something to do with mass storage drivers, but perhaps I'm barking up the wrong tree?Solved4.8KViews1like11CommentsBE2012 thinks VMWare VSS provider and Symantec VSS provider are installed
For a while now, one backup job returns everytime that the job completed with exceptions: The job completed successfully. However, the following conditions were encountered: The backup has detected that both the VMware VSS Provider and the Symantec VSS Provider have been installed on the virtual machine. However, only one VSS Provider can be used on a virtual machine. You must uninstall the VMware VSS Provider. I admit: at first, the server did have the VSS provider installed: this is a Windows Server Core, and I didn't think of refusing the VSS provider through command line at VMWare Tools installation. But I removed the VMWare VSS provider through command line. Even more, I also tried to completely remove VMWare Tools and Backup Exec Agent, and do it right this time (through command line, no VSS provider with VMWare Tools). But it still didn't help. I recently found a discussion which mentioned whuch registry keys and files should be deleted also (I lost the link), but after making sure these things were removed, I still got the exception. Can someone tell me what I should check after removing VMWare tools, RAWS and reinstalling them?Solved3.1KViews1like8CommentsHow to configure Firestreamer Virtual tape library in BE2010 R3

Hi, Backing up 3 physical servers and 4 HyperV VM. - HyperV Host is a Win 2012R2 - VM is a Windows Server 2003R2 SP2 hosting Exchange 2007 - Backup Exec V-Ray Edition 14.2 1180.1673 Everything works just fine then suddendly without any reason (or so it seems) only one of the VM gets an incredibly slow backup speed (50-60Mb/mn). Strange thing is that it happened 3 weeks before and reverted back to a good backup speed (853Mb/mn) Any help/tips are welcomed642Views0likes1Comment
