Symantec System Recovery 2013_R2_11.1.6.55604 - Issues with UEFI and PCIe SSD RAID WIN10 x64
Hi Symantec, I have purchased a MSI laptop - GT72S 6QF (DOMINATOR PRO DRAGON 4K)-093UK back in July. This has 2 PCIe SSD's in RAID0. Note that the laptop is a 4K screen 3840x2160. I was looking for a BACKUP solution. I have downloaded the SSR 60 DAY trial. I am running Windows 10 Build 1607. I have downloaded the correct ADK for the build. I can create the SRD Recovery ISO and copy to a USB. During creation it builds the image using drivers that are currently on OS. I can boot from the USB... but at this point I have 2 issues: 1. The UEFI boot picks up the USB boot... but I think due to the screen resolution - the SSR GUI is way... wayyyyyyy to small. The GUI is like 1 inch wide by 1 inch tall!. Its impossible to see all the options. Also I think some of the options do not work - but I think thats due to the screen size. I can see the option for RECOVER YOUR PC... but the one below that is unseen (BACKUP YOUR PC). Although if I click the screen and hit TAB a few times it seems to be able to get to the option. 2. When I do get to the option... its unable to find my PCIe SSD's in RAID0 using the IRST x64_14.7.0.1000 Driver - which is the same driver it adds from the OS on the SSR image. I have also posted this question on the MSI forums: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=276944.0 What's REALLY annoying is that I also downloaded and tested another solution - Macrium Reflect v6.2.1549. The Macrium Reflect bootable USB appears to work fine. It sees my PCIe SSD Raid 0 Array. This works fine! OK the GUI is still a little small... but its readable and defaults to a FULL SCREEN GUI. I can work out what its saying and I can see the menus. Kinda makes me think theres an issue with the way it creates the SSR WinPE image. The SSR.iso actually works fine 100% in BIOS LEGACY MODE. All looks OK with the GUI. Its readable and big... but that doesnt help me - as the PCIe SSD's are only available in UEFI or UEFI with CSM mode - So at this point I cannot backup or restore any images. Does anybody have any possible solutions? Is it possible to change the SSR GUI window size? Any ideas why its NOT picking uo my PCIe SSD RAID 0 disks in the UEFI or UEFI with CSM. One more thing. Why dont you have an option for Windows 10 under OPERATING SYSTEM when creating a new post? Kind Regards, Kenny5KViews0likes19CommentsHow to restore a backup of .GHO files?
Hello, I need to restore a backup which has been done with Norton Ghost in 2008. The backup is available on two DVDs which include some .GHO files. Neither the system is available anymore, nor the "old" Norton Ghost Software. Somebody in the forum recommended using SSR to restore, but I didn't find any option inside the software to restore .GHO files. Please let me know how I could restore the files. Thanks!5KViews2likes2CommentsDisks drives not shown (System Recovery 2011, 2013)
I had installed on my notebook System Recovery 2011, it was running smoothly for several months. I haven't run a backup job for a couple of months, and now the task is there but I can't run it, as it's greyed. The reason ? No disk drive is shown if you try to edit the task settings, or define a new backup ... (see the attached image, if it's shown..) Upgraded to System Recovery 2013 hoping that the issue would be solved, but with no luck.. The problem is still there.. Any suggestions ?Solved4.2KViews1like22CommentsMy computer caught fire…
I was advised to repost this topic here by Symantec... All I have got left is the external drive, (USB, 1000 GB), containing the backups. I wasn't unduly worried – after all this is why you have backups isn't it? The computer was fairly old and had two IDE drives with Windows 7 and a matching motherboard with an older type of RAM. The backup was made with Ghost 12 – I had no idea that it had become obsolete. I bought a new computer with two SATA drives. Apparently IDE drives and matching motherboards boards are no longer made. I booted from the SRD but the machine couldn't see the USB drive. I installed Windows 7 and then it could see the USB drive when I booted from the SRD. I told to restore the C drive after which it wouldn't boot from the drive. I subsequently chatted with Symantec support who told me that if I installed the appropriate Ghost application on the new machine it would be possible to restore from my USB drive. The agent insisted that in the whole of Symantec there was not a single remaining copy of any version of ghost… I managed to find a "Try and buy" copy of Ghost 15. Will this work? If not what can I do? The chatline agent did not know the answer to these questions and referred me to this forum. I'm trying to replace my 160GB drive with a larger 250GB drive. I'm running version SSR 2011 Desktop 10.0.3.45857 on Win 7 x86 OS. I have only 2 Recovery points and bothe fail when I install the new drive and boot with the recovery disk of the same version mentioned above. It appears to be at the very end and "Error EA390013: At end of Something" comes up. When I scan the disk through anaylize it doesn't have any data restored mainly the Windows default folders, like Windows, Users - but only default and Public. Both rescovery points fail the same way. There never appeared to be anything wrong with the 160GB drive it is just getting close to full. So next I reinstalled the original 160GB drive and booted to it with the larger drive also installed. I ran copy drive but it too fails at 96% with -- "High Priority Error: Error EC8F17B3: Cannot complete copying of (C:\) drive. Error EC8F0409: Cannot copy source drive to destination location. Error EA390013: At end of something. 0xEA390013 (Symantec System Recovery) (UMI:V-281-3215-6067)" What do any of these errors mean? Too vague. I just ran Windows error checking on the 160GB drive, it found nothing. Is this error due to my 160GB source drive or is there something wrong with the new 250GB drive? Any help is appreciated.3.5KViews1like15CommentsSSR 2013 SRD Fails Boot on system with PERC H310 Raid Controller
I'm running SSR 2013 on a Dell 64 bit Precision T3600 independent workstation with a Xeon ES-1650.0 CPU, 16 GB of RAM and containing a PERC H310 Raid adapter that controlls two 1 TB HDs currently running as independant C: and D: drives (i.e., in non-RAID configuration). 2013 succdessfully backs up the C: (boot) drive to D: in weekly sets with offsite copy. However, attempting to restore C: from image using the 2013 SRD runs into an immediate probllem. When attempting to boot from the CD/DVD drive (preceded by the H310 boot from bios), even before the Windows logo appears, I get a blue screen stating: "Your PC needs to be repaired. There isn't enough memory available to create a ramdisk device. Error Code 0xC00000017." Attempting to use Lights Out produces the same result.. I attempted to customize the SRD with the H310 driver (percsas2.sys), but the SRD Wizard would not accept the .sys file. So I have two questions: 1. Could the problem be caused by something other than the H310? 2. If the probllem is the H310 controller (none of my other systems without controllers have SRD recovery problems), is there a fix short of removing the H310? -- Jim3.4KViews0likes11CommentsHow do I create a Custom Recovery Disk using the SSR 2013 Trial
I've just downloaded the SSR 2013 trial and want to create a bootable recovery disk. From what I can tell from the unavailable user guide and sparse help file, I need the to have a SSR disk or SSR recovery .iso in hand and neither was provided with the trial. Is there a way to proceed without them?3.3KViews1like31CommentsCannot boot from recovery disk boot.wim file from hard-disk on Windows 7 x64 UEFI

Boot from UEFI Boot entry: Windows Boot Manager, and there show two options for me to boot from:"Windows 7" and "My Recovery" Choose "My Recovery", screen show "Windows is loading files", when the progress bar goes to end.
