Off to a bad start with System Recovery 2013 R2 SP4
I was glad to see the long awaited System Recovery 2013 R2 SP4 version out today so I downloaded it and thought I'd get right to testing it on my first system. Unfortunatly, I cannot even install the product. I'm trying to install on a system with the following characteristics: ------------ Intel Core i7 Processor 32GB RAM Boot Drive is a 500GB SSD OS is Windows 10 with the November 2015 update, 64-Bit ------------ I launch the install by running "browser.exe". I get the initial welcome screen with the various elements such as Getting Started, Installation, etc. At this point I click on "Install Now". At this point a screen opens that says "Loading the install. Please wait..." but within about 2 seconds the screen disappears and nothing more happens. Note that there is no error message, the program just seems to go away completely and the "Setup Launcher" disappears from the task list if I'm monitoring it while I attempt the install. As a test, I tried the install on a Windows 7 system and it worked perfectly. Is this possibly a problem with the November Update to Windows 10? I sure hope that we don't have to wait for another update that supports the November Update :-) Anyone else having any better luck than me?Solved6.3KViews2likes47CommentsSSR2013 - ERROR: Installation failed with error -532462766.
Hey everybody, For some reason the Symantec website does not let me create a new support case (times out), therefor I'm hoping this forum might be of any help. I'm trying to install SSR2013 R2 for one of my clients (W8.1 Pro 64bit). When I run browser.exe or the SSRx64 setup.exe the installation starts with the message 'Loading the install. Please wait... ‘. After a few seconds this message disappears and the setup ends without reporting a clear error. However I checked the SSRINST.html file within the C:\ProgramData\Symantec\SYMANTEC SYSTEM RECOVERY\LOGS folder. It reports the following error: Symantec System Recovery (TM) 2013 R2 Installation Log 02-09-2015,09:39:31 : EnumProcesses Counts: 79 02-09-2015,09:39:31 : OS is Windows 8 or Windows 2012. 02-09-2015,09:39:31 : The OS product type is Workstation. 02-09-2015,09:39:33 : Executing managed _Setup: 02-09-2015,09:39:33 : C:\Users\Voip\Downloads\SSR\Sym_System_Recovery_2013R2_11.1.0.53728_Multilingual_Product\SSR\SSRx64\Install\_Setup.exe 02-09-2015,09:39:35 : ERROR: Installation failed with error -532462766. I am currently using Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 with my Windows 8.1 based desktop PC. I am planning on upgrading to Windows 10 on July 29, 2015 when Windows 10 is released. I've been relying on Norton Ghost and SSR 2013 to do full system images for years. Is Symantec currently working on software for Symantec System Recovery 2013 so that it will be compatible with Windows 10? Will Symantec be offering a FREE update patch to Symantec System Recovery 2013 that will make it compatible with Windows 10? Will it be called Symantec System Recovery 2013 R3 or something else like Symantec System Recovery 2015? I would like to see SSR 2013 tested and certified as compatible with Windows 10 as soon as possible. I would prefer not to have switch to another vendor's system image backup software like Acronis. Their website is saying that you can get a free software update for Windows 10 compatibility for Acronis True Image 2015.34KViews12likes385CommentsMissing options for Windows 10 in OS and SSR 2013 R2 in Product version when raising posts here
When submitting posts here there is no option when selecting Operating System for a specific Windows 10 entry which would be helpful, nor in Product Version is there an option for SSR 2013 R2 at least - let alone which Service Pack has been installed. Can these options be added to this Board please as I would prefer to have the correct label if possible ? Thanks Geoff923Views0likes1CommentAnyone else having issues with 3 year software renewals
Back in March 2015 (when it was still Symantec) I renewed my licence for System Recovery for 3 years. In March this year I was notified by Veritas that it was due for renewal. As this was an obvious error I raised a problem case and supplied all purchase details.I was also told by the support person I spoke to that this was happening with multiple people so I was not alone. Fast forward four months, it still has not been resolved and I'm being asked for purchase details again. I had previously raised support cases when the company was still Symantec and got call backs within hours, but waiting for four months to fix a simple clerical error is ridiculous. The upshot of this is that I have been without entitlements for 3 months and obviously can't download the latest version with SP6. Is anyone else on the forums getting a similar runaround from Veritas? I paid with Amex so I'm thinking of contacting them to raise a disputed payment case.1.3KViews0likes3CommentsSSR2013 System Recovery Disc took me to new windows setup?
I am on windows 10 but the dropdown would not allow that selection. I tried to bootup a laptop with the SSR2013 system recover disc/boot disc/rescue disc - whatever we call it now - (which I have done many times on many systems with prior versions) and I have never seen this. SSR2013R2 64 Bit made January 2016. Now this bootup apparently the laptop did not grab the DVD which can happen based on machine bootup settings. But here is the strange part. I think the boot disc uses some Win PE OS but here is what I saw. It booted up, and it said "preparing windows" ...which made me say, what?...and then I was staring at a generic new windows startup desktop!!!! What???!!! So not the SSR2013 menu, not my desktop, a generic windows background and the the cortana box there (which I had removed) and a few icons. Now I shutdown, unplugged everything and booted off the hard disk and I thankfully had my regular windows desktop back. So here's my question. Does that make any sense? I also had a USB hard drive attached at the time but can't imagine that would have done anything. In my past the machine would either boot to the SRD or to the PC's windows hard driver. Nothing like this. BJB931Views0likes3CommentsRestore physical Windows machine in VMware using System recovery 2013
Hi, I'm new to Backup & Restore portfolio and trying to get some hands on System Recovery. I've installed a trial version of Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 on my Windows 8.1 laptop and created a entire backup of laptop on USB hard drive in a folder named Symantec Backup. Now using this back up I want to create a Virutal machine in Vmware. Can someone guide me on this.886Views0likes1CommentCannot recover multiple partition boot disk
SSR 2013 R2 suggests that my drive is failing when I try an incremental backup. The recovery program indicates it is a BIOS boot but my system uses UEFI. I built the system myself. MY guess is that the system boots from BIOS into the UEFI then into Windows 10. There are 3 partitions on the drive. A small 100 MB system-Primary,. the C: drive and a 450 MB Recovery partition. I can find no way to duplicate the drive to a new drive. SSR 2013 complains any time I try to recover more than one partition to the new drive. You can see what happens when I try to recover using the backup.1.8KViews0likes14CommentsInvalid MS-DOS Function During Restore of Encrypted Files
Using SSR 2013 R2 SP4 with the latest build of Windows 10 Pro. I have a problem restoring individual EFS encrypted files from a backup image. After mounting the image as a virtual drive, when I try and copy an encrypted file back to its original location, I get: Invalid MS-DOS Function Error Same results on two different computers. Ihave reported this problem before (several months back) and managed to fix it by doing a repair of SSR. It'snowre-appeared on both computers but I don't know how long it's been there as this is the first time I've attempted a restore of encrypted files since the last repair. I'm just wondering whether this could be due to critical files being changed by constant Windows 10 updates. I'd be grateful if anyone else could try a test restore of an encrypted file and report the results back here. Alan1.1KViews0likes7Comments
