Many files made not enough space in Backup Exec server

Hi,

So many this kind of file "HKBEMS01-bengine23-736.txt" under "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Logs"

Please advice.

These are debug logs so it looks like someone has left debugging enabled on your system. (assuming new ones are stil being created and assuming you are not troubleshooting with a support case)

 

Anything in this folder of  format

<BackupExecServerName>-bengine*.txt

<BackupExecServerName>-beremote*.txt

can be deleted

 

You should also check the registry

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Baclup Exec\Backup Exec for Windows\Engine\Logging\CreateDebugLog

as this may need setting to 0 to disable further logging.

How long do you retain your logs for?

The standard is 90 days, but if you store them for longer it will explain why you have more.

You can truncate logs for less time, but that is only effective from the moment it is set, and doesn't touch older files.
