issue installing backup exec 2010 on windows 2003 server without dvd drive

upgrading my backup exec 11d running on windows 2003 server to 2010.

server has CD drive, not DVD, so sharing the DVD drive from another machine.

if I browse the dvd, there is a browser.exe file, but attempting to run that tells me "error 193 loading dvd browser plugin x:\bin\browserops.dll %1 is not a valid win32 application"

so then I try to browse to x:\be\winnt\install\be32\setup.exe file, and try to do local installation, but it fails on enviroment check, I get the "page cannot be displayed" in the middle of the backup exe screen. if I browser to where "save the results to" points toward, there is nothing there but some JPGs and such, nothing to indicate the issue.

suggestions?

Hi

I presume you have downloaded single ISO image from Backup Exec site and then have extracted the ISO on Media server were you are trying to install backupexe

http://trialware.norton.com/files/fc/Backup_Exec_2010_13.0.5204_MultiPlatforms_Multilingual_DVD.iso

If have not done that please download it from above link 3.47 gb download and then extract using winrar and then check

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH128474

Hope that helps

Thanks

Copy the files locally and try. If that doesnt help then re-download

You can also try to stop the AV and see if thats what causing the Issue

that did it!

thanks Sameer!

apparently there was an issue with the iso file I had, even though it tried to install, downloading it in one file from your link and then burning the iso did the trick.
