EV 12.5 to 14.3 upgrade

Hi all

I’ve a need to upgrade a single EV 12.5 server to the latest version (14.3) and was keen to understand any gotchas around the changes to the indexing engine (elasticsearch). I also need to migrate to a new Windows 2019 platform (from Windows 2012) so was planning to use SSMW. I can only see an SSMW for 14.2 so will use this version and then do an in-place upgrade to 14.3

Can anyone can offer their experiences when upgrading to 14.2 or later  - especially when working with the new elasticsearch indexing engine?

I read that the compute resources for the EV server will need to be increased to 32GB RAM and 16 x vCPUs to cope with the elasticsearch and I need to create a new volume for the an elastic search index snapshot location.

What are the post-upgrade activities I need to complete with elasticsearch as this wasn't clear in the upgrade guide. How and when do I configure the index snapshot location (is this after or during the upgrade) and how and when do I configure the index snapshot backups?

Also - Is there a method to upgrade the existing non-elastic indexes to elasticsearch indexes and is it worth doing this?

many thanks in advance

Hi,

consider the higher requirements for CPU and RAM and remember to save space for the snapshots.
