Dear all,
Is there an option with EV for exchange, to restore an item when a user opens it? (rather than just leaving it as a shortcut as happens at the moment)
I'm using v6 SP4.
Thanks,
Paul.

Hey Paul,
You mean to restore the item back to exchange instead of just retrieving the original item for them to work with?
What is the use case for that? (just curious)
Users could always use the Restore button for items couldn't they?

You probably don't want to know the use case...
... we're looking at migrating off EV onto a new Exchange system where we won't need to archive...

Disable archiving, restore the User. Voilà ;)
There is no Restore-on-open, sorry.
However I'm curious on the reason why you migrate away from EV?
Cheers

Why?
EV is expensive and adds considerable complexity to the messaging environment.
Disk is cheap and Exchange 2007 managed folders do all that we need.

That's true.
But there are other advantages, too...
Consider for example a restore of your grown Exchange Server, 2 TB.
How long does that leave you inoperable?
Anyway ;)
Thanks for sharing your opinion. Knowing why companies uninstall a particular product helps making it better in the future!
Cheers
