Hi,
I am planning for a bulk enabling of mailbox for archving in Symantec Enterprise Vault 9.0.1 approx 3000+ users.

So i have planned to go with the below technote.
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH37899

But when i am trying to enable user using EVPM i get error as below.

Creating privileged MAPI session ...
Error creating privileged MAPI session

Current Enviroment is Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2010, Outlook on archive server is outook 2007 with SP and hotfix.
Tried to run EVPM for both user on 2003 and 2010 and get the same error.

It used to work in version 8.0.5 but after upgrade it has'nt been working any idea where to go from here totaly lost.

Are you doing this on the EV server when logged in as the Vault Service Account?

Are you using the right alias for the Vault System Mailbox? (ie the one which is usually configured against the archiving task for that Exchange server target)

Can you elaborate on the exact steps you're following please?  And the contents of your EVPM script.  I can try it on my 9.0.2 server.

So you have modified the .ini from what's described in the article to suit your environment, right?  You don't have "group" on a line for example (word wrap is terrible in these text notes).

If possible, attach it here as .txt.

And a screenshot of the run, please.

So what is the name of your EV Server, is it :

directorycomputername=EVserver.Prod.com

And your Exchange server is the same name, or is it a cut-paste-replace error?

Please enter an Exchange Server name: EVserver.Prod.com

OOppss sorry!!!

Yep its cut paste replace error.

the exchange server name is NYC-MAIL001.prod.com

Okay, so put NYC-MAIL001 as the Exchange server name, rather than the FQDN.

I just tested it on my machine, and with the FQDN, what I see is that it takes several seconds on the line "Creating privileged MAPI session...", then gives "Error creating privileged MAPI session".

If I use just the Netbios name, it works immediately.

Please try that.

Tried as you said but no luck.. checked with netbios name of exchange server but still getting the same error.

I tried for both the version of exchange server E2K10 and E2K3 but still no go

Something is redirecting EVPM to another server : nyc-mail002.  Is the System Mailbox definitely on nyc-mail001 ?

20	07:36:46.586	 [10304]	(EVPM)	<12096>	EV:M	CMailbox::CreateManagementSession - Input[nyc-mail001.prod.com], ExchangeServer[nyc-mail002], DomainName[prod.com]

Try this:

For the Exchange server, enter, nyc-mail001.

For the system mailbox, enter, smtp:sys-entvault-Nyc@Prod.com
