Veritas Pune Celebrates a Culture of Innovation with Tech Conference: Illuminate 2022

After nearly a two-year gap, Veritas Pune is gearing up once again for Illuminate, a flagship annual technology conference—by Veritas technologists for Veritas technologists. Organized and managed end-to-end by our engineering community, Illuminate 2022 will take place between 21 and 23 March 2022.

Before we called it Illuminate, this event was known as Cutting Edge. Over the years, the nature and execution of this event have evolved to what we know today as Illuminate. We started with a two-day event three years ago. The thought behind Illuminate was to present employees with a forum to participate in forward-looking, technology-relevant topics and come together to collaborate and share knowledge. While the event originated with participation from solely employees, we gradually moved to a model where we welcomed external speakers and students from educational institutes, increasing our canvas and spread.

Even today, the event's focus remains on networking, socializing, showcasing, and innovation. On a day-to-day basis, engineers tend to get siloed in their own product releases, a trend that has increased since the advent of work from home. The past couple of years have been challenging with a lack of coffee conversations and hallway discussions, directly impacting innovation. Illuminate is a platform that encourages collaboration, nudges our innovators out of their silos, and fosters an innovation mindset.

For Illuminate 2022, we have a range of activities and initiatives planned, with tracks like elevator pitches, paper presentations, panel discussions, product expo, and technical demos. Pre-event engagement beginning nearly a month before the main event includes panel discussions on Kubernetes, cloud, security/ransomware, AI/ML, and DevOps.

No technology conference is complete without a hackathon, which is the final piece of the puzzle at Illuminate this year. Right before the main event, the hackathon will be a two-day global battle of wits. We are looking forward to evaluating the Hackathon projects and announcing the winners during Illuminate.

All of this requires planning, persistence, and a strong core team, including management and senior technical employees, and numerous volunteers across business units.

#VeritasIlluminate showcases the culture of continuous innovation here at Veritas, our team's collaboration, and cross-vertical cooperation. I'm excited to see Illuminate 2022 through to the end. A famous science author once said, "Innovation doesn't come just from giving people incentives; it comes from creating environments where their ideas can connect." This is exactly what we are striving to do at Veritas through Illuminate.
