In partnership with Microsoft, Veritas has created an Azure Resource Manager (ARM) based solution to deploy a NetBackup Primary, Media, and/or CloudPoint server(s) from one simple template. It’s never been easier to create an entire NetBackup architecture in the cloud or selected component of your backup infrastructure within minutes.

Six steps for a successful deployment:

  1. Have a Microsoft Azure account with an active subscription.
  2. For a CloudPoint deployment, ensure you have the ‘Owner’ role permissions for the Azure subscription.
  3. Have a valid NetBackup license key.
  4. Have a NetBackup Usage Insights Customer Registration key for your account.
  5. Meet system and instance requirements. Refer to the compatibility lists and documentation.
  6. Make sure that the network you plan to use for the deployment is configured and that the different NetBackup different components can communicate with each other. NetBackup deployment uses a private DNS zone and links a virtual network with it. In case if you select an existing private DNS zone and existing virtual network then makes sure to create a DNS-vNet link before starting the deployment.
