Hello
We have 8.1.2 Windows Master and 3.1.2 5240 Appliance. Appliance with L config. Until this time we were using eth1(1g). We plug FC(eth7 10g) etherhet card and assing IP on it.
Ip config:
eth1 192.168.1.73/24 GW:192.168.1.254
eth7 1291.68.1.79/24 without gateway.
When we unplug eth1 physically all communication lost except IPMI. Then we find out Linux does not support same IP block.
So tried add gateway to eth7 and unconfigure eth1. When we done this Appliance acted weird. Didn't take any commands. So we undone everything.
What is the recommended method to change backup nic to another nic?
There is no bonding in our config.
Thanks

What I'm suspecting is that the dnsname/hostname associated with the IP on eth7 isn't the same as the hostname of the appliance. So when you unconfigure eth1, the appliance isn't able to talk to itself.
What is the name of the appliance and what IP does this resolve to?
If everything was working before using eth1, then I think your best bet would be to (using the IPMI to make the changes) unconfigure eth1 again, then configure eth7 with the same IP as eth1 had (ie 192.168.1.73/24 with the gateway set).

Hi @davidmoline
We are using DNS. Before making changes on Appliance. I added second entry for the same hostname for 1.79 IP
Thanks
