Have a look at the top of the page for Oracle Linux Client in NetBackup 7 Operating System (CL) :   http://http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH76648

NetBackup is supported on all editions (Advanced, Base, DC, etc.) and on all vendor GA updates (n.1, n.2, etc.) or service packs (SP1, SP2, etc.) unless stated otherwise in the tables below.

Yes - any supported OS on master and media server (including Appliance) can backup any supported OS client.

Just ensure forward and reverse hostname lookup between server(s) and client(s) using DNS or hosts entries as well as port connectivity in both directions between server(s) and client(s). Port 1556 (PBX) is used by default.
Ensure Linux OS firewall (iptables) is stopped and disabled.

So, install NBU Client software on Linux Client, patch the client software, and add a policy for the client.
ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES can be used in Backup Selection.
You can use bpclntcmd to test hostname lookup in all directions.

Please help us to understand your level of NetBackup knowledge and experience.

Do you know how to install NetBackup Client software? Do you have a copy of NetBackup Client software?

Do you know how to create a NetBackup policy to backup network clients?

Do you know what exactly needs to be backed up on the Linux machine? Just filesystem or database?

Linux and Unix Clients are backed up with Standard Policy type.

This information is covered in NBU Admin Guide I : http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5159
See Chapter 15.

About Client selection in the policy, see 'Client Selections for Backup Policies' in the OS Compatibility Guide (link in my previous post).
