hi team ,

i want to upgrade my Media Server (Windows machines) and on documentation said that i need to deactivate the media server.

do i need to do that or should i stop the services , run the update , start the services

and if i need to deactivate the media servers how i can do that , this is the command from Veritas

nbemmcmd -updatehost -machinename <Media Server> -machinestateop set_admin_pause -machinetype media -masterserver <Master Server>

i have two domains with two master and media servers all on windows environment , masters are already update to 10.1

thanks in advanced

You should just be able to run the upgrade. The installation/upgrade process will stop the Netbackup services and start them up again.

Hi @solomοn

What @L_BR said is absolutely correct. That said, in a busy environment it is good practice to deactivate the media server prior to upgrade to avoid sending any backups to it during the upgrade.

And by deactivate the media server they do NOT mean decommission it!

Deactivating the media server "idles it" so it does not accept any new requests.
