WORM tape in SLP policy

Level 2

I'm trying to use an SLP policy to duplicate some backups to WORM tapes.

The WORM tapes themselves are working fine in a normal backup policy, they are already configured in volume pool with WORM prefix name, etc.

However when used in the SLP policy the duplication job fails with write errors. In the bptm logs I can see this error:

WORM MEDIUM - OVERWRITE ATTEMPTED

The tape is empty so I don't know why it's trying to "overwrite" it, Netbackup should anyway just append the data as it's a WORM.

Is it simply not possible / supported to use a WORM tape in a SLP policy?

Can you provide some of the info from the job details? We use tape in SLP job streams all the time. Backup to MSDP, duplicate to another location and at the same time, push that data to tape.

Maybe more details about your environment would help here.

Thanks,
Dennis

The SLP policy is quite simple it's backup to disk (datadomain) and duplicate to tape.

SLP policy to non-WORM tape works fines, and a standard policy with backup to WORM tape works fine as well.

The issue is only when using SLP duplicate to WORM tape.

Hello,

try to increase bptm logging, maybe it will tell you more about the error root cause. Optionally open a support ticket. I think you config should work.
