upgrading netbackup 5230 appliance to 2.7.3

Hi,

we are planning to upgrade netbackup appliance from 2.6.1.2 to 2.7.3

do we need to upgrade netbackup version from 7.6.1.2 to 7.7.3 on same day?

please confirm.

our NBCC havent detected any inconsistencies.

Is the Appliance Master/Media Server or just Media server?

Appliance 2.7.3 = NetBackup 7.7.3.

If Appliance is Master/Media server, you will simply upgrade to 2.7.3.

If Appliance is Media server, you need to upgrade the Master first.

Upgrade path: OpsCenter, Master, Media server(s), Clients.

PS:
Why 7.7.3 (2.7.3) and not 8.0 (3.0)?

if upgrade appliance from 2.6.1.2 to 2.7.3, netbackup will also upgrade from 7.6.1.2 to 7.7.3

do we need to buy license for upgrading to Netbacup 8.0

Appliance software includes NetBackup software.
So, as per my previous post: Appliance 2.7.3 = NetBackup 7.7.3.

If you annual maintenance is up to date, then all upgrades are free.
You should see 2.7.3 as well as 3.0 software on My.Veritas.com.
