I dont' have an environment near at the moment, but you can change the property in the SQL table for that user to disabled.

That's a very long discussion. Basically, eDP is a full EDRP solution with workflow, legal hold notices, analysis and review. DA was a forerunner, but it still has use as a quick search/analysis tool only for EV archives.
