The Backup Exec team is delighted to announce registration for the next beta release of Backup Exec 2010 and 2012!

This beta release supports VMware vSphere 5.1 and Microsoft Windows Server 2012 (and Hyper-V). It is available for BOTH Backup Exec 2010 R3 and 2012, and is expected to be delivered automatically to either platform (as long as you are under maintenance).

This beta release demonstrates the concrete strides we’re making to deliver high quality software with up-to-date platform support.  But let me be very clear: this release does NOT bring back the jobs monitor or multi-server jobs. Our intention is to get current with the industry before bringing back those legacy features. We still expect to address this request and will keep you appraised.

In the meantime, we’re continuing our efforts to listen and give you the straight story.

  • If you want to talk to a Backup Exec product manager please PM me or tweet @backupexec, @packmatt73 or @backupexecdrew.
  • Earlier this week we held the first Google+ Hangout that Symantec has ever done. Our friends down under at A Resting Sys Admins’s Blog have already posted the replay.
  • This morning we delivered a webinar for channel partners on Agent and Agentless VM Backup and Recovery (watch for it coming soon for end users)
  • We did a Reddit AMA a few weeks back and received a 76% approval rating. Another is coming on January 25 at 2pm EST, focused on Virtualization. Sharpen your pitchforks, redditors!

Now, let the commenting commence.
