The popularity of containerized applications is exploding. To better assist customers transitioning to containerized environments, Veritas is releasing a beta version of NetBackup Server for Kubernetes, or NBKubed.

In the NBKubed beta program, we’re inviting participants to test desired use cases for backup in their cluster. The intent is to run the master server inside a cluster—and depending on the specific needs of your system, you can choose to run the media servers inside or outside the cluster. NBKubed works with the latest released client container.

Are you interested in joining the NBKubed beta program? To participate, please complete the following steps:

  1. Navigate here to create an account on our VxBeta system using your professional e-mail address.
  2. Click this link to request access to the beta software.
    1. You may receive a message saying, “Access denied to the software,” though your request will be reviewed and approved for access.

And we’d welcome your feedback on the NBKubed beta. We may reach out to participants with questions, like:

  • Would you run a NetBackup server inside your cluster in the future?
  • If not, what changes are needed to make this a viable option?
  • Would you prefer to run media servers inside and/or outside your cluster?
  • How can we help you automate your deployment of new versions of NetBackup?

NBKubed beta notice:

This is a beta and is meant for a test environment, not your production environment. We have released this functionality early to gather feedback; please let us know if a needed feature is not functioning as expected. This beta was designed primarily for an on-premise cluster, however it should work in a cloud cluster including Amazon EKS. It is designed for Kubernetes, but can also work in your OpenShift environment. If you are having difficulties with the beta, please reach out directly to the development team at dl-vtas-nbkubed@veritas.com.
