New Release: Introducing Veritas Storage Foundation and Veritas Cluster Server 5.1

Veritas Storage Foundation and Veritas Cluster Server 5.1 are now available to customers. Below are a few key areas of innovation that you can expect in version 5.1:

1. Zero reboot install and zero reboot upgrade to version 5.1:
   • Rolling upgrades for Storage Foundation, Cluster File System, Veritas Cluster Server and Storage Foundation for RAC clusters
   • Smaller host footprint with a 70% reduction in the number of packages for the full distribution

2. Fully automated Solid State Drive (SSD) optimization:
   • Automated discovery of SSD devices from leading vendors
   • Support of multi-tier file systems, supported by a mix of SSD and HDD
   • Transparent optimization of data placement on SSD
3. Continued focus on enabling a full Thin Provisioning ecosystem:
   • Thin reclamation support across a broad range of leading array vendors
   • SmartMove over any distance with Veritas Volume Replicator
4. Support for Oracle 11gR2 RAC:
   • Certification by Oracle on Linux
