Storage Management and Disaster Recovery for Kubernetes made easy
The deployment of containerized applications is now standard practice. With more than 55% of container-based workloads already deployed in the cloud today, industry experts predict that 70% of global organizations will be running containerized applications by the end of 2023.
Kubernetes (or K8s) is the container platform of choice for many customers. Kubernetes has traditionally managed stateless applications very well, but it lacks many native tools for storage and availability needed for statefulness. Modern workloads running in hybrid and edge-to-core-to-cloud environments require statefulness and persistent storage.
Veritas is known for delivering the industry’s broadest support for Kubernetes. And now, we are expanding Kubernetes support to make storage management easier with Veritas InfoScale for Kubernetes.
Once your applications are moved, you can easily ‘share’ your locally attached disks across your entire K8s cluster, giving you SAN-like capabilities without having to have a SAN attached to your cluster. Combined with our I/O fencing capabilities, this improves application uptime by having application data readily available across all your cluster nodes while preventing failed nodes (or broken application pods) from corrupting your data.
Additionally, we are simplifying disaster recovery further with our Veritas Volume Replication (VVR) technologies. Now you can replicate both the application data and the K8s configuration to remote clusters, whether on-premises or in the cloud. This allows you to start applications quickly and easily on remote clusters using the same configurations and data they used on the failed cluster.
Our first release of Veritas InfoScale for Kubernetes will support the Red Hat OpenShift platform—both on-premises and in shared, public, or private clouds—and native Kubernetes installs. Future releases will support additional platforms such as Azure Kubernetes Service and other Kubernetes services in the public cloud.
