Veritas Named (Again) a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Center Backup and Recovery

The last year has been terribly exciting. As a stand-alone company, our team has injected a new pace and energy into our product roadmap. We are delivering new capabilities to our customers that are changing the game in how they manage data, store and extract value from it, and ensure compliance – all in a multi-cloud world.

Equally as exciting, Gartner has, once again, named Veritas a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Center Backup and Recovery Solutions [1]. In fact, Veritas has been positioned as a Leader since 1999. I’m thrilled that Veritas continues to receive this type of recognition – recognition that centers on delivering “solutions” to our customers versus “products.”

Now, more than ever, Veritas is laser focused on providing solutions that solve our customers’ most pressing data management challenges, giving organizations an integrated, cost effective, and infrastructure-agnostic way to discover the truth in information. That’s what our 360 data management for the multi-cloud approach is all about.

And, we’re not stopping here. We will continue to lead in data management. Here are a few key things to keep in mind:

A leader in enterprise backup and recovery solutions. It’s our belief that any offering used by complex, global giants -- including 86 percent of the Fortune 500 -- to protect petabytes of data every day must be feature-rich, scalable and easy to use. That’s what we offer at Veritas. And, we continue to be hyper focused on supporting our customers as they adopt new infrastructures and workloads. For example, in the last year, we have accelerated our workload support program. And, with the recent launch of CloudPoint, we’re giving customers the ability to manage snapshot operations across multi-cloud and data center environments -- without vendor lock-in.

Going well beyond data protection. NetBackup software and the NetBackup Appliance family are tightly integrated and meet our customers’ toughest SLAs with near 100% backup and recovery success. But, we’re compelled to develop solutions that take customers well beyond backup so they can do a lot more with their data.  NetBackup is not just backup and recovery, it’s a core component of our data management platform. The need for such a platform has never been more critical. Gartner states that “by 2020, 30% of organizations will leverage backup for more than just operational recovery, up from less than 10% at the beginning of 20162.”  This is where it really gets exciting: giving customers a way to unlock value from their data that will help propel their business, provide better customer service, and derive insights that were not previously attainable.

Veritas 360 data management for the multi-cloud empowers more teams to benefit from data insights. As we expand the role of data protection to data management, we’re finding new ways to add value for the backup and storage admins, the virtualization and database admins, the chief data officer, and the legal and marketing teams. Through our 360 data management approach, these teams can:

  • Gain actionable visibility to better manage global data with Veritas Information Map.
  • Enable multi-cloud disaster recovery through the Veritas Resiliency Platform.
  • Instantly deliver data to Dev/Ops teams with Veritas Velocity, accelerating the move to the digital enterprise
  • Additionally, with our recently announced CloudMobility offering, customers can safely and securely migrate complex workloads from their data center to the cloud with a single click.

Platform to leverage and accelerate multi-cloud. NetBackup’s integrated cloud connectors provide simple, seamless access to multi-cloud support across almost any cloud platform with more than 33 public and private cloud storage providers including AWS, Azure, Google, IBM, and S3 compatible storage.

Modern, flexible pricing models. Veritas offers customers increased flexibility to consume solutions in a manner that best fits their current and future needs, through the new Veritas 360 Data Management™ Suite. The solution leverages NetBackup with subscription pricing to simplify access to the broad spectrum of Veritas data management solutions.

At Veritas, we thrive on being leaders. It’s an honor to be named a Leader once again in the 2017 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Center Backup and Recovery Solutions. I would also encourage you to stay tuned, as there is more to come. This pace we’re on will continue. And, I can also tell you with confidence, we’re not chasing the puck, we’re skating to where the puck is going to be, and that’s exactly where our customers want us to be.

I will be talking about all of this and new innovations in September at our upcoming Veritas Vision annual conference in Las Vegas. Join me?
