BE 10 restore changing folder AND file creation dates

I restore old tapes once in awhile for clients. fyi I did a catalog/restore just a few days ago on the same system for another client and this problem didn't happen.

I do inventory/catalog of an 8mm tape (about 20 years old) and the catlog shows the proper creation dates for files and folders. I know that the folder dates can change when restoring, but all of a sudden the FILE creation dates are changing when I do a restore.

Any ideas on cause and cure?   Thanks.
