Cloud server data sync to server

Hi ,

We have one cloud server which has important data.

we will create one local server with the same specs and would like to sync the data from the cloud server to the local server on a daily basis after hours and backup the data. 

Does symantec Backup Exec.Cloud would be ideal for our requirement ?

If possible we would also like to backup cloud server data .. is there a way to do that using symantec products ?

    To be honest, no...your cloud provider should have some sort of backup in the backend that you'd look at signing up for.

    Otherwise you'd need to find some sort of way to sync your data to a local server/storage device and you're probably going to be looking at a high charge for egress data (if the cloud provider charges for your data going out)...

    Hi Suren,

    You have not specified any details about the cloud server, but I would expect that Backup Exec could run on the cloud server with disk storage defined as target for backup sets.

    The most efficient way would be to backup to a deduplication folder in the VM, then use an optimized duplication job to transfer the dataset to an instance of Backup Exec on the on-premise server, also having a deduplication folder. From there you can do a redirected restore if you need the data on a running server.

    Also, be aware that in this setup, one of your servers need to be a CASO (see the Enterprise Server option in Backup Exec).

    You also need a VPN connection between the two servers or between the two sites.

    This approach has the major advantage that all operations are performed within one product, Backup Exec. You can also, when necessary, restore an on-premise located backup set onto the cloud server.

    You will need 2 licenses for Backup Exec (one in the cloud, one on-premise). Both the Deduplication option and the Enterprise Server option are licensed separately from standard Backup Exec license. Deduplication option is included in the V-Ray edition.
