Enable data access is not enabled after each failover For the HA-windows

HI,

We have installed the Veritas5.1 windows and configured HA. When we do any fail over processes enable data access is not enabled in the secondary server. we have given the auto sync attribute and auto fail over attribute as 1 for the VVR resource group.

Can any one please clarify on that.

Thanks and Regards,

  • thanks gaurav,

We have found out the solution of data enabled resources problem. Whenever the VVRRVG resource gets offline and data enabled access got failed. so we have made that VVRRVG resource group as parallel group. After that issue got solved.

    Thanks and Regards,

  • Thanks gaurav for ur reply.

Workaround given by the sridhar is working fine but that problem is we don't have such enable access problem in using veritas 5.0

How to check the health of the VVR. is there any tool to check that.

we haven't set the disk group authentication for windows.

Can any please help on this.

  • Do you agree with problem description Sridhar gave above ?  If yes, As Sridhar mentioned that you need to right click the secondary & set "enable data access" .. & that is not happening automatically ..... in that case you still have a workaround right ? how  is that blocking usage ?

Ok coming back to problem, do you see any error/message in logs once this switchover is done ? Did you ran a health check on VVR to see if VVR component is healthy...

In unix, we need to set a diskgroup authentication, I hope something like that would be available in windows, (though not sure), has this been setup ?

  • And more over i think he has configured HA as he iterated earlier in his query.

  • Gaurav,
Actually the problem could be like this.

He would have done everything correctly but the problem he is facing is after fail over. i.e. for e.g. if any of his services goes down(which he is monitoring) it is triggering the fail over process by making the corresponding agent resource as faulted. But the problem, though all the resource comes ONline in secondary server (with Auto resync and Auto takeover attribute set as `1`) for this, he could see the secondary server in the replication network (using VEA client) is not set with enable data access option. Instead he is right clicking on the secondary server and choosing Enable data access option, which he expects to happen automatically(since he sets the attribute)

Can you get the problem now ?

  • Hello,

    Little unclear with your query....

Are you saying,  that you are not able to access any data/volume on secondary after failing over  ? Also is it GCO ?
