It is a real shame and it's still the case AFAIK several years after the problem was reported despite a major new version (*cough*). The use of DFS & DFSR will only increase IMO as more companies look to replication to sister sites for disaster recovery purposes and not completely reliant upon old-style backup processes to protect their business (as it's documented that many still went out of business).
This thread has made stop and think though. Nothing really to do with backup, the problem with DFS & DFSR is file locking it you make both ends of the DFS link live at once, e.g. UK people edit local copy at same time as USA people edit their copy. There is no dsitributed file locking in DFS.
So we're looking at PeerLock which comes with PeerSync which is a replacement for DFS & DFSR. I wonder Backup Exec fairs any better with that technology?
