(too bad we're not using the software anymore)Re: Which IDR/ASR files are updated after full backups? This is helpful information, but still leaves the question a bit open. Upon reading other users' experiences with IDR, we have opted to simply not use it. It just doesn't seem to be that great. And manual restores are not that terrible. Again, the tech support at Sym/Ver seems to not understand their own software. I don't see why a simple yes/no and a brief explanation is so difficult. Is it fear of committing to a wrong answer? Why don't you guys know? Do I need to ever worry abotu ASR files? or is the one time enough? why the "Disk" folders if I only need the .dr files? (and where is disk 3?) anyway, it really doesn't matter any more. IDR is off my radar.Re: Which IDR/ASR files are updated after full backups?"As a preliminary step please upgrade to 9.1" see my comment above (i'm using version 10) which renders your link useless. you guys just copy and paste random steps without actually ANSWERING anything. so i will ask the question again: do the ASR files get updated? (yes or no) is there supposed to be a "disk 3" folder? (yes or no) should i be copying all these folders to floppy? or just the .dr file? (yes, all folders or no, just the .dr file is fine) those are examples of answering questions. in fact, i'll add another question. who do i contact to get my $500 back for the IDR. it just doesn't work. (read some of the other posts on this forum)Re: BEWS 10d and Netware 6.5 + AOFOi apologize if i was unclear. the forums are great, but more often than not, only when the Sym/Ver techs are not present. I have been scanning through many threads and the common pattern is that the techs post links to non-relevant articles time and again. then they'll move the thread to "answered" (which i have yet to look at, is it easy to find? not sure) or else just not respond any more. (take a look at all the "anyone out there???" comments) I would much prefer the forums to be "admin-free".Re: Intelligent Disaster Recovery is a joke. Don't buy it.i find ittoolbox's interface to be a bit overwhelming. and the pop-up boxes asking for registration and industry info, are not the most inviting... but i'll def keep it as a resource. thanks for the tip.Re: How to prevent exchange backup from failing while mail is in useTired of non-helpful tech support? I have yet to gain any helpful/useful information from the Symantec/Veritas techs. They want to move as many topics to the "answered" section as possible. The "two-day, automatically assumed answered" policy is absurd, in my opinion. For these reasons, I have started a new backup exec group at google. If you're interested, please check it out, and spread the word if you like it. http://groups.google.com/group/backupexec Since it's new, I need you guys to start the ball rolling by posting some questions. :) OwenRe: CPS causing MacFile errors and spontaneous rebootsTired of non-helpful tech support?
