NetApp snapmirror resource not getting online with VCS integration
Dear All, I would like to have some help to identify following error while onlining a NetApp SnapMirror agent that was intergrated with VCS. The filer name and its credential s were given properly and even i can able to ssh it from the servers but for some reason the resource is not getting online and shows following error in the engine.log 2014/09/30 15:02:44 VCS WARNING V-16-20059-1002 (node)NetAppSnapMirror:testSM:online:Encountered errors while decrypting password! 2014/09/30 15:02:44 VCS ERROR V-16-20059-1000 (node11) NetAppSnapMirror:testSM:online:ONTAPI 'system-get-version' failed on filer node1.sys Error : in Zapi::invoke, cannot connect to socket Actually i am doing global Clustering configuration where i have two node cluster and a filer at primary site, In dr i have a single node cluster and a filer. the replication is async. Reset Password of VCS User in Secure Cluster.
Dear All, Greetings! Recently i have added a VCS user in one of our VCS Cluster which in running in secure mode to access the Java Console. However i did not find any option to set a password for the same. After going thru some article i tried to #hauser -update <user name> however this option is not available for hauser command. I need your support to resolve the issue. Symantec Veritas Cluster Server GCO query
Hi All, The current VCS environment conists of a 2-node cluster at primary site and one node with VCS software at the DR site. The service groups were configured to provide failover for Oracle Apps and DB tier. VCS software was also configured at the DR site with one-node to provide failover for Oracle Apps and DB tier. However, when using GCO, we noticed that to bring up the database and the application service groups at the DR site, some amount of user inputs were required. This was actually the limitation from Oracle Apps - some SQL queries needed to be executed and the user was not comfortable performing the same. The user decided to remove the GCO componet and just name the server at the DR site with the same hostname of one of the cluster nodes at the primary site and then the database and application started working fine. My question is related to license - Is VCS license required at all for the DR site? I know that this is not the recommended way of configuration, but can anyone please suggest what are the other disadvantages? I was looking at GCO and global service groups where a user cannot accidentaly bring up the application and DB at both the sites. We were using VCS agents for controlling NetApp SnapMirror replication which is also not possible now. Regards, Bruce

Oracle RAC and Split Brain Situation.
Folks, Any thoughts how does Oracle RAC handles Split Brain situation ? Might be this is a relative question with w.r.t two varied technologies .. but I assume its the best place to put this as Veritas is master in handling SPLIT BRAIN situation. H2H, Arvind
