I am new to the SAN world. I wonder if this can be done. We plan to run NetBackup on a Linux or Windows server that connect to the LAN and SAN. An ExaGrid (can be consider as local tape driv) is connect directly to the NetBackup. And the Windows File Server is connected to both LAN and SAN. A NetApp filer is connected to both LAN and SAN. The filer will be the main storage for the Windows File Server. When do backup to the ExaGrid, the normal pass of the data travel from Filer to WFS through SAN, then to NetBackup through LAN then to ExaGrid. Is it possible to have the data go directly from Filer to NetBackup though SAN? __________________________ LAN | | | NetBackup WFS NetApp | |________|_________|______ SAN | ExaGridSolved2.1KViews0likes11CommentsI need to develop an Excel spreadsheet that will list all of Symantec Backup Exec 11d individual backup jobs & then what servers, folders, and files are backed up under each individual backup job.
Question: I need to develop an Excel spreadsheet that will list all of Symantec Backup Exec 11d individual backup jobs & then what servers, folders, and files are backed up under each individual backup job. Is there a way that I can automatically generate such a report, or can I export such a report into a CSVDE file and then import it into Excel? I would rather automatically generate this report rather than having to manually create the spreadsheet. How can this be done? Can someone please provide me with step by step instructions? I have a VERY LARGE server envrironment and each individual Symantec Backup Exec backup job backs up quite a few servers. I need to be able to generate a report that will list the name of each individual backup job and then what server names and folders and files on the server are backed up.490Views0likes1CommentBackup from tape to disk

Has anyone gone through the process of moving their MBE or SPA to a new physical (or virtual) server? I originally built an All-in-One PD Server, with 1 TB of internal storage. My environment has grown past the intial server, and I now want to move the SPA and MBE to different p or v machines. The long term goal is to re-purpose the original PD server. Thanks in advance for any insight.305Views0likes0Comments
