EV FSA sizing question
Dear EV experts! Our customer want to implement EV 12 with FSA archiving. Customer has 60Mrd (60 x 1000 Million) files on 10 file server.(2-8Mrd file on each server) The data is approximately 20-30 Tb. We are design and size the architecture. The initial goal to reduce the number of files on the file server and the users doesnt suffer too much performace reductions. Questions: ---------- - Do you suggest to implement one big EV server or multiple servers? - Do you suggest to implement one SQL server or multiple SQL servers ? I read that one SQL server can host multiple EV server database.(8) Which basic architecture do you suggest? On the EV server i plan the following disk layout: C: os D: EV app binaries E: index, sql, staging area F: vault archive data I am thinking about E: drive which has an index: sequential read/write and sql: random read/write which may not good to mix a different io pattern on same drive. - What do you think about and wh at do you suggest? Hi All, I have installedan EV8.0 SP 3 on windows server 2008 for Mailbox archiving & PST migration. I have enabled 500 mailbox for archiving & 3000 need to enable forarchiving. PST migration isgoing onappx. 300 usersPST have been migrated. Now I want toconfigure the one more EV server for PSTmigration. Can someone suggest me thatisit possible ? I read somewhere that PSTmigration task should be run on the server wehre mail archiving is running. If it is possible then please suggest me how can I do that. Thanks in advance. Hi everyone, We'll need to move the Enterprise Vault environment to a centralized solution, which will be implemented in one of the domains in the forest. All domains in the forest trust each other. The current solution is based on the following: 1. Users domain called users.company.net The domain contains the user accounts of the users. 2. Resources domain called resources.company.net The resources domain contains the following: Exchange 2003 server (that hosts the mailboxes of the users); Enterprise Vault 8 SP2 (archives the mailboxes hosted on the exchange server) SQL Server 2005 used by the EV server NetApp filer that contains the vault stores of the EV. The partitions are set as “Network Shares”. 3. Domain new_domain.company.net The domain contains the following at the moment: Exchange 2007 Server (where the mailboxes from the Exchange 2003 server will be moved) The plan is to move the archiving solution from the domain resources.company.net to the domain new_domain.company.net. The mailbox moves can be performed before or after the server migrations, so it’s not a big issue. My questions are the following: Q1 If we move the filer to the new_domain, the filer will be accessible as filer.new_domain.company.net (instead of filer.resources.company.net). How can we update the existing partitions to point to the new path? Q2 Are there some articles or best practices that we could use to perform the SQL server move to the new_domain? Q3 How can we move the EV server to the new_domain? We plan to keep the same service account for EV. Are there some articles that could guide us on performing this step? Thank you in advance!
