shutdown and restart Cluster with VEA
Hi all, I have to shutdown our Hardware for a while. Now I'm looking for the best way to do that. I have two storage SAN's connected to two hardware micosoft clusternodes(Windows Server 2003) with VEA 3.2. I will shutdown the sytsems this way: 1. passive Cluster node 2. aktiv cluster node 3. first san controller 4. second san controller 5. both storage's 6. FB switche and the restart this way: 1. FB switche 2. both storage's 3. both storage san controller 4. both cluster node's Are there any things i have to regard? Do the VEA start the to resync after the restart for hours? or it will only reconnect. I hope you can help me. Thank you!1.8KViews0likes3CommentsStorage Foundation 7 from Windows Update
Hi I have Storage Foundation 6 Basic running on windows 1008 R2 which has been working flawlessly for years. I received Storage Foundation 7 through windows update (it was 1 MB so I guess its only the driver). I made the mistake of installing it and now it no longer works. I can see the following error messages in the windows system event log The following service is taking more than 16 minutes to start and may have stopped responding: Veritas Enterprise Administrator Service and this one too: vxboot: cannot set vxconfigd's pid: VxBoot.sys error: 3221225485 For more information, click the following link: http://entsupport.symantec.com/umi/V-204-57344-1 So what it the best thing to do, try and get version 7 working or just uninstall veritas and reinstall version 6 and hope that it will see my volumes? HI, apologies, but being a complete newbie I have very little understanding of Veritas SFW and it's usage. I am using Storage Foundations 5.1 on Windows 2003 and was wondering whether it is possible to retain my Storage Volumes (file system drives) after a rebuild of a server. I wish to rebuild the Win2003 server and make it Win 2008R2, and figured I could just deport the Dynamic Disks, re-install the SFW software after he installing win 2008R2 and import the disks. Et Voila my drives as if by magic re-appear. Sounds like a plan?SolvedVVR -DCM log fails to completely drain
Hi My replication runs fine for an day or two. Then replication stops. DCM log stuck on 2% and grows. Article:TECH55550 it’s because of an SRL overflow. To resolve we need to disable access to the volume. We cannot do this every second day. This is a very critical system, we cannot afford any down time. Can it be that VVR is not suitable for our environment? How can I determine the best Data transfer solution between production DC and DR DC? Using SAN mirroring is an option, but how will it handle regions that gets changed all the time? Our environment setup looks like this: 10GB link between DC's DB size 1.6TB Data change daily +- 300GB Thanks MariusSolved876Views0likes2CommentsSFW striped volume comes up as healthy,RAW all of a sudden
Hi all, Having a problem with a volume consisting of 5 x 8.1TB disks in a RAID0 stripe constellation, where SFW all of a sudden changed it from healthy, NTFS to healthy, RAW. We suspect the server lost one of its links to the SAN for a short duration. Obviously, as long as the FS type is set to RAW, we cannot access the data (diskpart list volume) confirms status in VEA. When running CHKDSK F: /F it all comes out in perfect state, no errors or warnings what so ever. We have tried to set the volume type back to NTFS using Acronis Disk Director, but we have some issues on the server, where this tool cannot communicate with disk management. Perhaps it is not compatible with SFW. We also tried EaseUS Partition Manager, but it reports the disks as "Bad disk", so probably not compatible with SFW. We did apply the CP16 patches to the SFW51.SP2 setup, but that did not change anything. So what options does that leave us with? Any ideas? My thoughts; 1) We can certainly re-format the volume, and accept the data loss of backups (used as disk staging in NetBackup) not yet duplicated to tape. 2) Find a tool that can change the RAW reference on SFW managed disks. 3) Support? Nope, SFW Basic, no agreement /A476Views0likes0CommentsThe Veritas Storage Agent service terminated unexpectedly.
Anyone had this before? I was just testing this in my VMWare workstation. I configured two nodes as in my primary DC servers, providing HA for SQL2005 on Windows 2008 R2 (x64). I also configured a single node cluster as in my DR site. Both of the cluster are connected using Global Cluster Option. Data is being replicated using Veritas Volume Replicator. All the above have win 2008 R2 Std edition as the OS. Have configured HA-DR using Storage Foundation - High Availability & Disaster Recovery 6.0. I'm facing issue with the following scenario : 1)I'm able to switchover the Service Group across the site. And also come back to primary site. 2)I keep the Service Group at primary nodes, and now forcefully shutdown the OS. At DR site VCS prompts me to take action and makes the Service Group come online at DR site. 3)Now i manually bring up the nodes at primary site (but im confused what steps to be taken to make the "previously primary" site to act as the new secondary. If i just manually start the SG , i end up making both the sites as primary site . ... How do i make the role reversal afte the primary site has come up. All, I need urgent help with VSFW 4.3. I restored a Windows Server 2003 from backup and it also restored VSFW 4.3 but not the configuration it has for the Lun's presented to it. It sees most of the luns but lost are the groups, etc. Is there a file I need to restore to bring the configuation of disk groups in or is there a way to recreate Windows drive paths from the Luns being presented. ?
