So let's say I have a local master server "master1" and a local media server "media1" and a remote media server (DR) "remotemedia1". I currently have both "media1" and "remotemedia1" set up as puredisk server with MSDP. So when I do catalog backup, I have my 1st copy backup to "media1" then duplicate to "remotemedia1". Now, let's say my local environment has been completely destroyed - so we need a DR ! ** 1st thing I do is def rebuilding my master server. Now I will have to connect "master1" to "remotemedia1" .... since master1 is newly rebuilt, the previous relationship was broken. Does anyone know how I can reestablish this so I can do Catalog restore from the puredisk pool of remotemedia1? Any reference is appreciated. thanks!!Solved3.3KViews0likes1CommentHow to restore MSDP master/media server after disaster
Hello, This is my first post. We have two NetBackup 7.0.1 servers. Both W2008R2 ent. Both VMs. We use MSDP feature. Both servers have 10Tb drives to hold images. Catalog backup jobs are configured. Key file is copied over the network to another DC. Catalog restore process is clear for me. The question is: Are there any additional steps to restore CRDB? 10Tb drives? Could you please provide best practice/manual? Thank you in advance.Solved2.1KViews0likes2CommentsSystemstate restores failed with media error

Add new disk volume up to 4 TB using YAST or 2. Migrate old disk puredisk Server to new disk volume (replace to bigger disk volume) 3. Any other solution .... Please send me the best solution and step by step ? Many thanks. Regards, Ahmad1.1KViews0likes5CommentsSteps to run granular restore for Exchange where MSDP has been duplicated to tape?
In my environment, I keep 1 month of DAG backups in MSDP. I've had a restore request going back 3 months. Granular restores work fine for items that are in MSDP and I understand that GRT only works from disk, so I've used the Java Admin Console to duplicate most of the images from tape back into MSDP (there are a couple of tapes still offsite) In the Java Admin Console I attempt a restore based on the date range the tape images were written; I see the DAG hiearchy and navigate down the structure and finally expand the "Database" item. This shows the list of mailboxes, I locate the one I want and click the icon to expand it and nothing happens (I expect to see a list of folders starting with "Top of Information Store") I had this same behaviour before I duplicated the tapes back to MSDP, so not sure what's going on.... How do I query what mailboxes are in the backup images? (to check if the mailbox I want is on a tape I have duplicated or is it on a tape that is still offsite?)881Views0likes1CommentPuredisk dancing
We need to switch our backup SAN from Pillar (SAN01) to EMC (SAN02). I was wondering if we could de-assign a LUN from a SAN (just said SAN01) on media server (just said media01). And then assign a new LUN from another SAN (just said SAN02) on the media server media01. We do not remove the images of media01 from the old LUN from SAN01 on the master server. Then we use the new LUN on the SAN02 for a week. Then we need to restore something from the old LUN on SAN01. Can we unassigned the LUN from SAN02 and re-assign the LUN from SAN01 on media01 and be able to restore it ? thanks877Views1like4CommentsPDDO disaster recovery
Netbackup 6.5.5, Puredisk 6.6 (using Puredisk Virtual Appliance) Attempting DR testing in a virtual environment which reflects live setup. Site 1: Netbackup Master Server (Windows 2003) with PDDO installed Windows 2003 Domain controller/DNS server, also with netbackup client installed PDVA 6.6.0.2 Site 2: PDVA 6.0.0.2 "Warm standby" DR master server Successfully configured the environment so that the Netbackup client backed up to a storage lifecycle policy which stored primary data on the Site 1 PDVA and replicated to the Site 2 PDVA. Also performed Netbackup catalog backup. Then simulated a disaster by switching off all servers at site 1 except DC/DNS server. Successfully completed a full catalog restore onto the warm standby server and all appears well. (Installed the PDDO agent on the warm standby server after installing Netbackup but before restoring the catalog.) From the catalog I canview the "copy 2" files stored on the site 2 Puredisk server, and have set them to be the primary copy. However, cannot perform a restore of these files to the client: job fails almost immediately with error code 10 and detailed log shows error 800. Can't find any documentation on how to configure a restored master server to restore from a Puredisk storage pool so aware I might be missing a piece of configuration. Have tried rerunning pddocfg.exe on the restored master server. If I run pddocfg in "update" mode it succeeds but still can't restore. If I run it in "new" mode it fails (unsurprisingly since the restored master already knows about the storage pool). I have raised a support call about this but thought I'd see if anyone on the forums has any advice - thanks in advance!Solved803Views0likes3Comments
