Extended retention for FULLs and Cycles
Hi Folks, Wanted to get some clarification regarding retention in NBU10: In NetBackup 10 through the WebUI, does it support extended retention for Full backups? For example, if I have a weekly Full backup schedule with a standard retention of 4 weeks, is there a way to configure NetBackup to keep the last successful Full backup for a longer period—say, 3 months—even after the regular 4-week retention expires? I'm looking for a way to automatically retain a longer-term Full without creating a separate backup schedule or policy manually. Is this possible in the WebUI or via another mechanism? Does NetBackup have a concept similar to Commvault's "Cycles" or IBM Spectrum Protect's "Versions" where the system ensures that at least one backup cycle is retained, even if backups fail to run for a certain period? This would help ensure that a backup cycle is always available and not expired due to missed jobs. Does NetBackup have such a feature or a similar mechanism to ensure this level of protection? All, I am trying to setup a calendar based schedule that is based on individual run dates to run quarterly backup jobs. The run dates will be populated via a cron job on the master server (Solaris 11) on Jan 1 of every year. The population of the dates works fine but do I also need to set a run window for each date? If so how does one determine which day of the week is appropriate for the selected date (as each run date is on a different day of the week)? Do I need to create run window for every day of the week and preselect them as exclude dates and then have my cron job remove the exclude and add in the include date? Thank you in advance for your answers.Solved991Views0likes2CommentsNetbackup - Scheduled Backups Check they are active

Hello, this is my first post, I do browse the forums everyweek though. ;) Here's my problem, I do this very manual "restore" to an alternate location for a server that needs a second backup copy every single week, (with different host (VM), different display name, etc). I was wondering if it was possible to script/schedule this sort of backup to happen weekly. Right now it is very time consuming and laborous to do this every week and was wondering if any shortcuts were available. Let me know if its possible to script something like that! Thanks, etn842Views0likes2Comments
