V-79-57344-38264 - Unable to copy the virtual machine disk using the VMware VixDiskLib.
Hello Everyone, Currently we have a server 2008 64bit server with BE 2014 which was upgrade from 2012 and for some strange reason I keep getting this particular error message while backing up a few VMs as you can see below. V-79-57344-38264 - Unable to copy the virtual machine disk using the VMware VixDiskLib. VixDiskLib_Read() reported the error: NBD_ERR_DISKLIBV-79-57344-38366 - WARNING: "VMVCB::\\10.0.1.5\VCGuestVm\(DC)ha-datacenter(DC)\vm\SCSMDW\SCSMDW\SM Warehouse-000002.vmdk" is a corrupt file. This file cannot verify. Transport mode 'nbd' was used for the read operation of the disk 'SM Warehouse_1-000002.vmdk' In addition, I have research this particular message and I have not yet found anything online that is exactly what I am having issues with. Furthermore to provide additional background information the issue that I am having with the VM are on an Exsi host that is running version 5.5.5.6KViews0likes17CommentsBest solution to back up Citrix Xen Server
Hello, I am wondering what the best solution would be for the following: I have on Citrix Xen Server host that has 7 virtual machines on it. I am currently using PHD Virtual to back this up to a NAS. I am looking to move to different software for the backups. One of the virtual machines is running SQL and one is running AD and DNS. There is also one physical server that has AD, DNS, and DHCP on it that i would also like to back up in the same solution. What i was curious about is what is the best way to back all of this up? Is it Back Up Exec or System Restore? Or would neither work? I am looking for something that will back up to the existng NAS and allow for item level restores as well as fast restores of full VM's if ever needed. Second question is, assuming one of the two products will work is it best practice to install it on its own server or could it be installed on teh physical that is existing with AD, DNS and DHCP? I am assuming its own server and that is what i would shoot for, but for the sake of saving money i like to know my options. Thank you for your assistance.Solved3.5KViews0likes4CommentsImporting Catalog from Backup Exec 2014 to another 2014 server

I'm testing de SDR feature of Backup Exec 2012. I have a full Backup of a Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition SP2 32bit I tested to recover files, and works fine. Now I’m trying to recover the full computer and all works fine, until i get the error attached. The error occurs while "Checking for a resource entry for this computer on the backup exec server" The window display the "Cannot find a resource for this computer on the Backup Exec server. Make sure the Remote Agent for Windows Servers service is started". I Restart the Remote Agent on the server, and also restart the server, and the recover procedure several times with no changes. I’m stuck on this. Really appreciate help on this! Thanks in advance.2.4KViews1like14CommentsRestoring Files/Folders from Tape Backup
Hi all So, I have a bit of a problem. I accidentally deleted the wrong folder from our work server yesterday (Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard), but we have a nightly backup to a tape drive, so I went onto the backup software (Symantec Backup Exec 2012) to restore the data. However, using the restore wizard it has been "Querying for data" for approximately 12 hours... is this normal?? Is it possible to restore files/folders from a tape backup, or would we have to restore the whole system? Do I just need to wait a long time for the system to find the data? I'm a designer with a decent knowledge of IT but Server/Server backups/Tape are all pretty new to me! We have a spare 2Tb NAS drive so I could potentially restore all of the data to this (approximately 600gb), would this be a more viable approach? Thanks in advanceSolved1.9KViews1like2CommentsBackupExec 2010 R3 Encryption Key(s)
We will soon be reinstalling Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3 software due to an OS upgrade to 64bit version. note that this upgrade will be on the exact same server. The server is already 64bit hardware with a 32bit OS. Upgrading OS to 64bit. Here is my primary need: Ineed to make sure where to locate the BackupExec Encryption Keys and how to back them up (Export/Import) or whatever it takes. I also need to know the location forANY configuration files perteninent to the coniguration of BackupExec so I can back them up to be restored on the new server. Is there a PDF document available - or if someone has a minute to provide the details - It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.1.6KViews1like2CommentsBackup strategy best practice please.

I'm seeing a lot of conflicting information while Googling in regards tobacking upthe BE server itself, so I wanted to get updated info for version 15. Is it the correct way tosimply to use run aBackup Exec job and protect the following folders? CATALOGS C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Catalogs DATA, DATABASE,and JOB LOGS C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Data LICENSES C:\ProgramData\Symantec Shared\Licenses Obviously this means BE services are running while it's backing up itself and should be done outside of the nightly database maintenance window.
