Restores queuing for 60+ minutes before beginning execution, Netbackup 7.5.0.3
We have just upgraded from 7.0 to 7.5.0.3 on our master and media servers. They are running on Sun Solaris version 10. Previously we had no issues with restores, but now it seems that most of our restores are remaining in a queued state after being submited fromanywhere from 30 to 60 or minutes before they begin execution. Once they begin running, they restore fine with normal transfer rates and complete successfully. Has anyone every come across this issue before and do you have any suggestions on where to look to reduce the "queued" time ? The backups seem to run as they did prior to the upgrade, it seems to only be a problem with the restores.1.6KViews2likes6Comments
Netbackup exluding many folders form backup
Hello Team, Thanks in advance for all your help. I have Netbackup server and from it we are taking file server backup. During restoring of files, we found many files and folders are not backuped up with Netbackup. After analyzing, I found issue with NTFS permission. I have one Security groups which dont have access to that folders which I have used for backup. Now thing is I have many file servers and I dont have any details on which folder this group dont have permission. ACL permissions status when restore on different OS
Hello Team, 1)) We have a win 2003 client backup on tape with NB version 6.5. We restore this data in same domain on same client. ACL permissions are restored without any issue. 2) We brought this tape to a new domain where nbu version is 7.6.0.4 and operating system is Win 2012. We import the tape and restored data: a) On UNC path of win 2012 server - ACL permissions were not restored b) On local drive of win 2012 server - ACL permissions were not restored. 3) In 7.6.0.4 netbackup, if I try to restore a data from same domain client, it restores the ACL permissions without any issue. My question is is this behavior so, because we have different operating systems? Has anyone encountered this issue...Or any expert comments. Thanks!Solved2.3KViews0likes10Comments

Windows Failover cluster backup fails
I currently have a 2 node Windows cluster that is hosting a DFS file share as the clustered resource. My NetBackup solution is a single netbackup appliance serving as the master server, and the NBU windows client installed on both nodes within the cluster, and the client name I am using for the backup policy is the virtual name of the cluster. I have no issues backing up data when the cluster resides on either node, as I also have no issues running a restore. My problem arises when I have the cluster failover during the middle of a running job. The job fails and will not restart. Any advice would be very helpful. I cannot seem to figure out how to restore a folder that is getting backed up, to a different path other than the original. netbackup is making backups of /home/dir1/ this command works fine, restoring /home/dir1 to its original location. /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bprestore -L /tmp/restore.log /home/dir1/ but, how can I specify that I want /home/dir1 tape backup to be saved to say /home/tmp/ folder? Is that possible? I know that via the GUI I can specify a different path, but i'd like to do it via command line. Major Data loss situations - OSX Mavericks + WD drive software + external Hard drives
Please be aware that there are serious data loss issues ongoing with Mac OSX Maverics and Western Digital drive sofware. Both the Apple support and WD forums have mutiple customer reports of total external drive data loss. The data loss is not limited to systems activly using the WD software and drives, other vendor external hard drives are being lost. Personally I just lost 1TB of Time machine backups on a Iomega external drive. I did have a WD myBook for a while about 2 years ago but was not aware the WD drive software was still active on this machine. Current advice from Western Digital is to uninstall the WD drive software before going to Mavericks. Netbackup exluding many folders form backup
Hello Team, Thanks in advance for all your help. I have Netbackup server and from it we are taking file server backup. During restoring of files, we found many files and folders are not backuped up with Netbackup. After analyzing, I found issue with NTFS permission. I have one Security groups which dont have access to that folders which I have used for backup. Now thing is I have many file servers and I dont have any details on which folder this group dont have permission. So looking for detailed backup report from Netbackup where files are folder are not included in backup due to permission issues. Please help on this. Regards, Yogesh Makwana
Major Data loss situations - OSX Mavericks + WD drive software + external Hard drives
Please be aware that there are serious data loss issues ongoing with Mac OSX Maverics and Western Digital drive sofware. Both the Apple support and WD forums have mutiple customer reports of total external drive data loss. The data loss is not limited to systems activly using the WD software and drives, other vendor external hard drives are being lost. Personally I just lost 1TB of Time machine backups on a Iomega external drive. I did have a WD myBook for a while about 2 years ago but was not aware the WD drive software was still active on this machine. Current advice from Western Digital is to uninstall the WD drive software before going to Mavericks.
