Hi experts, We are facing issue in our environment where replication is set between 2 netbackup domain having appliances. When replication is running sometime network team is complaining high outbound usage from appliance. Please suggest what is causing such issue. Issue: Unable to expand advance disk on Veritas 5330 appliance Steps Performed: >Added the Appliance Host entry in Master Server host file >FQDN and Short name of the Appliance was missing in the Master Server host file >Master Server services need to be rebooted- Pending All above steps were done on the basis of the veritas Articlehttp://www.veritas.com/docs/000011143 > Rebooted the appliance via RMM Console (as per the article) >AdvanceDisk Resize changes reflected on Appliance only and the error is still the same as displayed in the attachment981Views0likes1CommentNetBackup Clear down storage.
Hi All, I am in need of some assistance with out NetBackup Applicance. Our Deduplication Disk has ran out of space and not entirely sure how to get this fixed to clear up some space. I am very new to the NetBackup Appliance and have read the following article: https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000005365 When I login to the appliance I start with the following Command Line. HOSTNAME.Main_Menu> Where do I go from here to find the directory listed in the above article as I can only go through the options listed ie: Appliance Exit Manage etc etc. Thanks for the help ! NetBackup 5230 Appliance Version: 2.6.0.2 NetBackup Version: 7.6.0.2 Netbackup 5203 Master/Media server backing up then replicating via SLP to a DR 5230. The backup and replication work just fine but the duplication to tape fails. The images are GRT Exchange and GRT SharePoint. I know for some reason NetBackup is trying to connect back to the Exchange and SharePoint serverto get index information which will never happen. Is there a way to shut that off and be comfortable the data on tape will be usable? 03/07/2016 11:26:20 - Error bpduplicate (pid=6783) db_IMAGE() failed: client hostname could not be found (48) 03/07/2016 11:26:20 - Error bpduplicate (pid=6783) Status = no images were successfully processed. 03/07/2016 11:26:20 - Error bpduplicate (pid=6783) Duplicate of backupid foo_1456718573 failed, client hostname could not be found (48). 03/07/2016 11:26:20 - Error bpduplicate (pid=6783) Status = no images were successfully processed.Solved1.4KViews0likes2Comments5230 Appliance hangs after the tape out process
Hi, Our of the customer has a 5230 appliance it has a serious performance problem.they are performing tape out operation for weekly full backups. and they perform that tape out process with a slp windows which is running 8 am to 5pm. their mostly tape out process happening on monday and their monday schedule backups affected badly. for example one of the vm clients backup working with a 300 mb/s ( acc enable ) when there is no performance problem, but after the tape out process same client backups working with a 20 mb/s. we are rebooting appliance and then restart affected clients backup after the reboot, its working nearly 250 or 300 mb/s. without the bandwidth the snapshot creation process takes nearly 18mins when the appliance has a bad performance. after the reboot same snapshot process takes 2 mins.Solved1.8KViews0likes6CommentsSlow Duplication and Replication Issue
Hi All, This is to share with you the Long pending issue which we faced in our environment for 6 months. Our Duplication Jobs started running slow and we started seeing backlog of Duplication jobs building up on daily basis which went up to 500TB. Earlier Setup :- Duplication Jobs Window - 24x7 Replication Jobs Window - 24x7 Storage Unit groups Used for Disk Pool Storage units and Tape Storage units. Netbackup Appliance 5230 ( 2.6.0.2 )- 1 Master Appliance , 1 Media Appliance in Primary Site , 1 in Remote site for DR. Netbackup Version - 7.6.0.2. We started seeing Backlog increase slowly which began to increase to huge size over the period of few months. Backups also wererunning slow and Replication also went slow. Overall Appliances Performance became very slow. Case raised with Symantec and worked with Backline To resolve this Performance issue. Did Data Collects , Logs collected and Sent to Symantec multiple Times. Actions Taken: 1. Replaced predictive disk failures for 2 disks in Master appliance on two occasions. 2. Upgraded Netbackup patch to 7.6.0.4 3. Changed the NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS and NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS_DISK to 32 to avoid long delays. 4. Broke the Stu Group and Started using Netbackup Disk Storage Unit and Tape Storage Unit for Backup and Duplication respectively. 5. Added Alternate read server in SLP as same as the one used for backup to overcome Data travelling from appliance to other for duplication to tape. 6. /usr/openv/lib/ost-plugins/pd.conf changed from PREFETCH_SIZE = 33554432 to PREFETCH_SIZE = 67108864 7. /disk/etc/puredisk/contentrouter.cfg changed from PrefetchThreadNum=8 to PrefetchThreadNum=16 8. Changed the Max duplication to 5 TB and Min to 500 GB 9. Changed the Replication window and Duplication window such that they dont Overlap. 10. Upgraded the Appliances BIOS and RAID Software 11. Upgraded the Netbackup software to 7.6.1.2 Version Now After the Upgrade to7.6.1.2 Version , The performance has improved Drastically and we are seeing Backlog decreasing rapidly with 50TB per day using 10 Tape drives. Replication performance has also increased and Backups are completing well within time. Cheers and thanksto Symantec Support and all others who helped us in this issue.1.2KViews0likes1CommentNB7.6.0.3 restore to different location issue
