NBU restore VMs from AIR_Gapped DR site into Main site
we are checking the possibility to restore a VM from AIR_Gap replication location back into the main site's Vcenter1 main site: NBU1+Vcenter1 DR site: NBU2+Vcenter2 VM initially resides on Vcenter1 of main site, NBU 10.2.0.1 (flex instance) takes backup of this VM and replicate its backup image to WORM in DR (NBU2). in case we got disaster in main site and NBU1 in main site is crashed, can we restore the VM from WORM/AIR-Gap (NBU2) into Vcenter1? is it only that we need to add Vcenter1 into NBU2? thanks,99Views0likes1CommentLogin into Virtual Server Machine fail (VMware)
Hello, I'm having issue backing up VMware VMs. Backup stopped working after i upgraded vCenter from 6.7 to 7.0.1. I found that my NetBackup Appliance(3.1, NetBackup console 8.1) supports only vCenter 6.7 or lower. Upgrading the appliance to 3.2 seems fix the issue, but found it's a complicate and risky procedure which requires a consultant. So, until we upgrade the appliance, I need to make sure the VM backup running at least. So, I tried to configure ESXi server(vSphere 6.5) instead of vCenter, I still cannot make the login but get the below error in the also attached image. Why does this happen? ESXi is 6.5 and has not been upgraded to 7, NetBackup 8.1 should work with no issue??? The ESXi name, I typed the ip address of the host, same as vCenter. VMware credential validation failed. Hello, First of all, I'm not familiar with NetBackup. I just noticed that all VMware VM backups fail after I upgraded vCenter from 6.7 to 7.0. NetBackup 8.1 console> Media and Device Management> Credentials> Virtual Machine Server, the login to new vCenter fails, which I think why all VM backup fails. NetBackup Core Support confirmed that this is incompatiblity issue and I have to upgrade my Appliance and the other media server and Netbackup to upper version. Can anyone layout the steps and links how I can perform this upgrade? I searched knowledge bases but Appliance white papers talk about only appliance, Netbackup talks about only netbackup upgreade. Much Appreciated in advance.833Views0likes1Comment7.5 VMWare full system restore from previous backup
Hi, I am in the process of playing with.. I mean testing.. our new 5220 appliances and I'm using VMware snapshot method for the first time. I have a policy configured to backup a few Windows (2008 and 2003) VMs. The policy type is VMware. File recovery from VM Backup, Block level inc backup, Exclude deleted blocks and Exclude swap and paging are all enabled. There is a weekly full and a daily cumulative incremental. These backup successfully. However when I do a full restore I am only able to select the last successful backup be it full or inc. Is there no way to restore to a previous backup? For example: If a full is done on Sunday... and incremental on Monday. On Tuesday someone screws the registry or something but it is not noticed. A backup is taken on the Tuesday night. Given the above options I would only be able to restore the Tuesday nights backup which is no good. I would have no option to restore the back up taken on the Monday before the registry changes ware made. Can anyone advise if I might have something set incorrectly?Solved511Views0likes1CommentN5220 Media Server to be used for VADP backup?
Hi All I have read somewhere that the backup host for VADP have to be a windows master or media server. Is that true? My customer have bought a N5220 appliance. Since it is using a form of linux, will I be able to use the N5220 as the backup host for VADP? Thanks! ckSolved823Views0likes2Comments
