NIC Teaming Slow Throughput, any ideas?
Hey guys, We currently have 2Gig set up through NIC teaming for our backup exec setup. When we have backups running, it barely reaches 35-40% of the bandwith. I am using Backup Exec 2010. Has anyone else here set up NIC teaming before? What are some things that might cause slow performance? Are there any specific settings in Backup Exec that may help? Thanks!5.1KViews3likes9CommentsHow to duplicate from replicated VTL to real tape
There are 3 BE 2012 servers in CASO environment. All connect to each DataDomain VTL. VTL is replicated by Data Domain. I just config DD to replicated VTL and BE catalog. But I just wonder how to duplicate only data from last night to real tape. Can I create job on CASO to backup on MMS1 and duplicate to real tape on CAS.836Views3likes8CommentsBackup to Disk and to Tape
I have any enviroment with both Physical and Virtual (VMware) servers I want to backup to both disk and tape. I have no fiber in the enviroment so I don't see FT w/SAN client being an option So I think that leaves me with a SAN media server. But since the SAN media server can only backup itself does that mean I would have to make every VM/Physical server I want backed up both a Nebackup Server and a Media Server. If that is the case that could get ugly very fast. Were would the SSO fall into place. It seems I need the tape library license as well. If I have 200 servers does that really mean I need 200 backup servers, yikes. It seems without fiber Netbackup enviroment could get fugly fast. I realize there are modules that could speed backup up. The thing is, if I go with Net Backup, I dont' want to end up with 1000 different modules during the initial implementation725Views2likes3CommentsBackup Exec 2014 (or 2012) AWS Storage Gateway problems
I need assistance from someone who has successfully implemented the AWS Storage Gateway-VTL in either Backup Exec 2012 or in Backup Exec 2014. On the AWS site, it shows that BE 2012 is a supported application for their Storage Gateway-VTL. On the Key feature list for BE 2014 is shows that AWS Storage Gateway is supported. I have not been able to get the VTL to work properly in either. The problem I am having is that the robotic library (an STK L700) shows up, all 10 of the tape drives show up (ULT3580-TD5), but the drives are not listed under the library. There are drives under the library, but they are all in red and have a "missing device" error. I have tried for the last 3 days to work with Symantec support to resolve this. They claim that the library is support and the drives are supported, but the drives are not support inside of the library. They provided links to the HCL for both BE 2012 and BE 2014 to prove their point. So, I asked them why their key new feature matrix for 2014 show support for AWS Storage Gateway and the setup documentation in AWS shows a screenshot of the drives under the library in BE 2012. They didn't have an answer for this. They are now telling me that instead of working with me to resolve my issue, they are instead working with the marketing group to remove support for AWS from the feature list. WTF?!? The support group is either unwilling or unable to connect me with the product team so that I can get some clarification on what components of the Storage Gateway is supported (besides the VTL, there is also a disk based gateway). So, if anyone out there has successfully connected their BE installation to the AWS Storage Gateway I would greatly appreciate it if you shared the "secret sauce". Hi there, We have Backup Exec 2010. I want to backup VMDK, but not enough free space in vDisk. Backup method, before storage, and then carries the BE server's disk. I just want to back up to the BE server disk. What can I do. Thanks, Merhaba, Bizim bir Backup Exec 2010 var. Ben VMDK yedekleme istiyorum, fakat vdisk içinde yeterli boş alan yok. Yedekleme metodu, önce storage, sonra BE server diske taşımaktadır. Ben sadece BE sunucu diskine yedeklemek istiyorum. Ne yapabilirim. Hi, Attached is a diagram of the backup environment. The back up of all the clients are performed in the local site, they're stored in the DataDomain (VTL). The historical backups are duplicated to tape and send them out. For the critical data, it is required to have a second copy of the backup. Due to the RTO established, it's not practical to save this second copy in tape and stored in a vault. So then, the second DataDomain (VTL) was installed in a remote site to replicate a pool of virtual tapes containing the critical backups. In the remote site, there is a media server to control the VTL. At this point, the second VTL is already configured like a storage unit and the virtual tapes are replicated and syncronized, but they can not be added because the duplicated media label. I'm exploring the idea to deploy a master server in the remote site to replace the media server... I need help to tie up the loose ends to make this solution works. Which could be the best way to integrate the DataDomain replication with NetBackup and take advantage of it with no need of new licensing? Btw,NetBackup is licensed per TB.2.2KViews1like6CommentsMail Alert for exchange servers

I was wondering if someone can point me to a good document on how to go about installing BE on a Microsoft 2008 R2 Hyper-V host. The host server has of course the Hyper-V host, as well as four other virtual machines (Exchange, Terminal Server, SQL, as well as just a file server). I would like to find a document that talks about actual installation and best practices. Thank you for your help.2.9KViews1like7Comments
