This problem has been around since Backup exec 2012 or even earlier, but I format a set of 6 tapes for the monthly run, set associate with media set to "Monthly" for each tape. I come back over the weekend and find tape 3 changed to "Weekly". Nobody else accesses the tape system or makes any changes, just me. I'm running BE15 with everything up to date including the agents. This becomes a problem because 1 tape set to weekly will end up firing off a weekly job instead of a monthly and I have to run the affected monthly job that didn't run as a result. What is going on here? When will Veritas fix this longstanding bug?Solved714Views0likes3CommentsSimplified Disaster Recovery Backup Exec 15
Have a Dell T630, Server 2012 r2, and Backup Exec 15. Reading the Admin manual for Backup Exec 15 everything seems fairly straightforward but I am wondering if there are any things, learned after the manual was written, that I should watch out for. Any help would be appreciated.333Views0likes1CommentNDMP Backup of DELL FS8600 - Backup Exec 15
Hi, We have a DELL FS8600 NAS which we are attempting to backup to tape using NDMP. From the BE15 server, I can see the NAS and volumes but there are no subdirectories listed below the volume - after some reading, this seems to be fairly common with NDMP. Essentially the 'volume' is full of folders named after the year of their contents (eg. \1999\, \2005\ etc..). I am trying to figure out how I could specify only a single folder at a time - the volume contains around 30 folders. After selecting the volume in Backup Selection and clicking Modify, the only options available to configure are: Path Tag as Business Critical (tickbox) EXCLUDE I have done some reading but can't really understand how to exclude all but a single folder (eg. Exclude all subfolders EXCEPT 2016). But I also cannot tell if this is even possible with the particular NAS/NDMP implementation. Could someone help with this or at least point me in the right direction to get this going? Thanks in advance, Luke1.3KViews0likes3CommentsCan't restore from duplicate server.

Hello, I'm thinking changing the backup strategy at one of our customer. He currently has : - Fileserver with 4 TB uses data - Exchange server with 1.5 TB data - SQL Server with 200 GB data - Vmware server with 4 guest (total +- 400 GB data). The customer has a HP 1x8 Autoloader with an LTO-6250 (LTO-6 , 2.5 TB native, 6.25 TB compressed). I was thinking partitioning the autoloader (don't looking at compression) as : Partition 1 - SLOTS 1-2-3-4 (+- 10 TB capacity) Partition 2 - SLOT 5-6-7 (+- 7.5 TB capacity) Partition 3 - CLEANING TAPE Now the part where I'm stuck is the backup strategy. I was thinking of using Partion 1 for weekly full backups and Partition 2 for incremental backup, eventually using partition 2 during the whole month. At the last friday of the month I would use other tape (in partition one) as monthly backup (keeping 2 months) and then a yearly backup. So now I'm hoping on your advise what would be the best strategy and the best configuration for Backup Exec 15/16. Thanks! Hello, good evening, I have a seemingly simple error, but that is causing the most confusion, I can not complete the backup of the solution because the error is occurring below, only in this task. I have already done the credentials tests, they succeed, but the error occurs anyway in the backup. Has anyone ever faced this problem?607Views0likes4Comments
