Exact job copy
Hi, We use BE 16 in combination with tape library. I have a job for Full and Diffreantial backup and job contain10 servers and each server has different files to be backup. Now we want to create an...
As selection list entries behind the jobs actually include the servername if you could make an exact copy of the selections it would not help you create backups for different servers
You might want to look at scripting with BEMCLI (a powershell plugin)
Hoi Coline,
Thanks for the reply,
The servers names are not going to change, we must back-up the same files form the same servers, only different is slots where the backup goes to.
we want the full backup of each week to go to different partitions with different slots/tapes
what is the option copy when right click on a job?
Thanks
Obviously you are not going to run the existing job as well as the new job that you are going to create. Why don't you just modify the existing job to point to the new partitions.
Hi PKH,
Thanks for the reply,
Our library has 24 slots and we want to automate the backup as much as possible. we want to keep the full backup for 4 weeks so the same jobs with the same backup selections only for each week to different partition. for we you suggesting we have to each week change the storage manually.
we dont backup all of the data on each server, sometimes we must backup only some sub folders of a folder and not all of the folder. this would means that we have to create 4 seprate jobs 9pointed to diffrent partitons) we would like to avoid this.
Thanks
Thanks
You are over-managing your tapes. Get rid of the partitions, put all your tapes into one common pool and you just need one job.
