NB Master Server migration to the new HW
Hello, I would like to migrate my current NB Master Server 10.1.1 running on Windows 2012 R2 (VMware) to the brand new server running on Windows 2022 (VMware), whole env. includes over 20 Dell DataDomains as target storages and over 20 Media Servers. Are there any general recommendations? Do you have any experience with similar migration? I found following migration toolhttps://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/downloads/update.UPD162444but I could not find any real cases how it works and so on. Other way how to do it would be catalog recovery but that would take too much time which I cannot afford at the moment. Or does it make a sense to build a new NB Master Server, do the re-configuration there of the storages, Media servers, policies etc. and leaving the old NB Master Server running behind till the backed-up data reach expiration point? Or is there any way how to export the configurations? How does it work with the certificates? Is it possible to have same token on both old and new NB Master Servers? Thank you. Hi Team, We are planning to migrate the Netbackup server from old hardware to new Hardware. But we are planning to change the new server name and also planning to upgrade the Netbackup version ( from 7.5.7 to 7.7.1). Please guide me what are all steps I need to take care before doing this. Note: - There are no media server on current Netbackup server. It has only local disk storage ( 4 TB). The new one have 16 TB by MSDP. Both are same OS version ( Red hat Linux ) Thanks for your advance help.Solved3.8KViews0likes10CommentsMigrate NBU appliance used in remote sites from a global shared Netbackup management server.
Hello, I am more of a networker admin with working knowledge and regular admin hands on with Netbackup/DD/Tape (except NBU Appliance). I have a task at hand to setup a solution for remote ofice backups with Local Netbackup appliances (with latest backup copies-which get repliacted to media servers offsite) being managedfrom a single master server (its a shared service server with other clients NBU infra being managed) Now we have to create new master server and media server(in azure for offsite replication) to manage a dedicated client's NBU remote infra. My understanding, need your comments/suggestions: 1) is it a straight forward build of regular Master server and add the respective remote office NBU appliance as media server (if its current role is a media server)- In this scenario do we need to decom the appliance from old Master server and then reconfigure preserving backup data (liek floow theAppliance Decommissioning and Reconfiguration Guide) 2) Just add NBU Administration console on a windows machine (if the remote office NBU appliance is a Master/Media server) If any error in my articulation, do excuse me !1.3KViews0likes2CommentsLicense and migration of Backup Exec 15
I'm using Backup Exec 15 revision 1180 Feature Pack 4 on Windows Server 2k8 R2 Std x64. 1. I use Backup Exec 15 to backup\restore data from\to Windows File server with IBM Backup Tape TS2900, LTO4. Now I'm planning to install new Win Server 2k12, then install Backup Exec (copy folder "Program Data\Symantec" from old server 2k8), then restore data from a Full Backup Tape. (total data is about 700GB, enough to backup in 01 Backup Tape 800GB). Do you know the best practice document for this migration? 2. With the unlimited license of Backup Exec 15, which is the newest version of Backup Exec I can use? I'm migrating from a stand alone Backup Exec 15 server (ServerA) to a new stand alone server with a differentname (ServerB). The same OS, the same Backup Exec 15 with service pack 5 with all the live update hotfixes. It migrated fine using numerous articles on Veritas, but the storage is all tied to previous server (ServerA). If I look at "All Storage Pools" details it says that the "Storage devices belong to the pool":disk1 (ServerA), disk2 (ServerA), disk3 (ServerA),etc... The ability to add or remove is grayed out. How to I change disk1 from being registered with the previous server (ServerA)to the current server (ServerB)? Thanks!Solved1.3KViews0likes1CommentMigration to another domain
Hello community, we have a Netbackup-configuration that comprises of a separate master- and media server and a library. Our backup-scope comprises: -NDMP (from our NAS) -VM's (from our NAS) that are controlled by EsXi-servers and managed with VCenter. -Physical Windows Servers All servers run on Windows, by the way. We need to migrate with everything (servers/PC's/user-accounts) to another domain, so the old domain can be switched off in a few months. Several servers have already been migrated and now we face the task of migrating our Netbackup-servers. Can we just go ahead with it or are there specific measures to be taken ? I have already seen similar posts in which was advised to look at: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH58218 and http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH38988 , but they are dead-end streets, and I cannot find anything of the kind here at Veritas. Please advise, Kind regards, Jaap2.2KViews0likes7Comments
