Archive Bit or Modified Time
Hi people,
I was wondering if i can get any one's opinion on which is best to use, Archive bit or Modified time?
I am using BE 2012.
Whaen is it suitable to use either of these?

What is not stated in the earlier references is that if you have a lot of files, then using modified time together with the USN journal should be faster than using archive bits. When you use archive bits, each file would have to be examined during an incremental/differential backup. This is a lot of disk I/O's. When you use modified time with the USN journal, the eligibility of each file for backup is determined by examining the USN journal, thus reducing disk access. This is why modified time is the default backup method for BE 2012.
