Backup Exec 15 - Qunatum LTO 7 Autoloader Compatibility

Does Backup Exec 15 support the Quantum Superloader 3 LTO-7HH autoloader?

In the hardware compatibility list (https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/doc/BE_15_HCL) it mentions LTO-5HH and LTO-6HH but no mention of LTO-7HH. I do see LTO-7 drives from other manufacturers listed so just wanted to make sure our superloader will work with Backup Exec 15 running FP 1 (VER 1180) ?

Thanks

The CDW listing doesn't clarify what brand of tape drive is in the library.  But, looking at https://www.quantum.com/swcompguide.aspx the only LTO7 drive I see is the IBM drive.  This matches the BE HCL.  So it looks like it should work fine.  You would be considered supported, if BE 15 was still supported.

I am assuming you already have the SuperLoader 3 LTO7?  Is there some reason you are sticking with the old BE 15?  I would suggest using the current BE 20, if you can, as the SuperLoader 3 LTO7 is still supported.

  • I see the IBM LTO7 drive is listed as supported.

Are you asking about a Quantum brand LTO7 tape drive?  I don't see a Quantum "LTO-7 HH" in the stand-alone tape drive section either, so I am not sure that Quantum ever made an LTO7 drive with that inquiry string.

But I bet it works fine, if it exists.

      Thanks for the reply Larry.

I did see the IBM one you mentioned listed as supported and its listed under the Quantum section as well.

The one we have is the Superloader 3 Quantum model # LTO-7HH, not sure if its the same the the IBM model. I see LTO-6HH and LTO-5HH listed but not LTO-7HH. However since BE 15 does support LTO 7 and we have the FP1 installed I am assuming it would work just fine.

This is the model we have: https://www.cdw.com/product/quantum-superloader-3-lto-7hh-tape/3987062?enkwrd=E7-LLYAE-YF
