Backup Exec BEDB.bak issues after upgrade

Hey Guys

I'm having an issue with the Backup Exec 20 Database on my Windows Server 2012 R2 after upgrading to Backup Exec 20 from 14. Since then I receive the following error:

"BackupDiskFile::CreateMedia: Error to create 'C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Data\BEDB.bak' . Betriebssystemfehler = 5(Access Denied)."

Regarding to the console I should check this article:

https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100011090

Which tells me to update my Exec Version, which I just did (it's version 20.3 Server and the Console 20.5). I am able to access the SQL-Database with the Credentials I also provided for the Exec-Server

What can I do to resolve this Issue?

Thanks for your help.

Kind regards,

  • Then I think the sql-service has no permisions to create the file.

Under which account does the BE-services run?

Under which account does the SQL-Services run?

Check this over services.msc or "Computerverwaltung".

  • Hello

Does the file exist? Please check the exact path.

Then rename the file, it will be created every night from new. Perhaps it is corrupt.

    Kind reagards

      Hi Lothar

Yes, the File does  exist. I'll rename the existing file and I'll check if the error persists.

Okay, I checked wrong, the File DOESN'T exist, there is a bedb_dat.bak File, I misread the filename.
